I’m dreaming here, but they do seem like a good fit. ZERO chance we get Nikishin, but I want him.

To CAR: Binner (20% retained), Schenn
To STL: Anderson (cap), Kotkaniemi (cap) and Nikishin!!!
I'm surprised that with all the talk about Carolina as a potential trading partner that Nikishin's name has not come up. Binninton's value has never been higher. I don't think that Nikishin is that far-fetched an ask.

Am I missing something or are people wanting to trade Binny for a 23 year old Russian that hasn't even come over here to the NHL yet?

Binnington for Anderson, KK, Badinka, Unger Sorum and rights to Roman Shokrin

First two are matching salaries which Carolina will need and give the Blues a 2nd line third line center. Badinka is a RHD who is much like Lindstein except more physical. They aren’t trading Morrow or Nick. Two big holes next year to fill. Unger will give the Blues a puck carrier and playmaker they lack on the wing. The Blues lack guys that can carry the puck in the zone and make a play. Their prospects are not in that mold. They dump it or get rid of it. He does it at 19 in at the AHL level. Shokrin is a big 6’5” Russian defenseman. Carolina has a bunch of them. He’s a bruiser with some puck skills. Longshot, but better than a pick this year.

He is probably the best prospect in all of hockey that hasn’t played in the NHL. They aren’t trading him, unless they have given up on him coming over.
Read an article yesterday that this is the last year of his contract in the KHL. If his team is eliminated early enough, and he signs with CAR as expected, he could be in the NHL before the playoffs begin. They said he would immediately be inserted into their lineup.

I was a bit tongue-in-cheek with my posts above when wishing he was included in the trade proposals being bantered about. I don't think there is any way he is going to be traded, if so, it might have been in the Rantanen deal. I just wish we had a guy like that on our team, even though he is a LHD. Him and Broberg could be our top 4 LHD for the next 10 years. Just a pipe dream though.

Care to explain or are you just trying to be funny?
For reals?!? Thought it was obvious. First, I AM funny and so therefore the cut of my jib was most sincere. A fellow poster has included among their reasons “he’s a dick” for wanting Binnington off the team. Which is hysterical because this poster was a MMA fighter at one time who immediately runs to the mods when someone else says something they don’t like or challenges them on their posts or most likely their tone.

I threw the too many dicks on the dance floor reference out there because someone else had just posted a Flight of the Conchords clip. Also, it was fun typing dick a lot.

my father-in-law had a doctor named Richard Head
every time my wife took her dad to see him, I was laughing to myself for half the day
for real
either his parents were completely clueless or they had a world class sense of humor

Oh my, I’d like to think I could control my laughter but at some point it’s just gonna happen. Like when you’re children during mass. Bravo my man, you’re a tough cookie.

I have a high school classmate ['62] whose name is Richard Head and always went by Dick. So I really had a Dick Head for a classmate, lol.

That's my problem with Carolina as a trade partner. Nothing makes sense to either team. For us, would more organizational depth mean much? Probably not, we have a deep prospect pool for once. The deepest we've had in 20 years. We have very specific needs. We need a talented puck moving RHD, we need a middle 6 center. Morrow is exactly what we need, but he's invaluable to Carolina as their cap situation tightens. Him and Nikishin are a big part of their window remaining open going forward. It doesn't make sense for them to move either. But it doesn't make sense for us to move Binner for lesser parts.

And I still like Badinka a lot from the draft prep, but does it behoove us to move on from Binnington and accept that risk for KK and Badinka? KK just strikes me as a guy who, a lot like Pageau, is an upgrade at the center position but a very ho-hum player really but locked in for 5 more seasons. I want someone who is good enough to allow Dvorsky some buffer between having to be a 2C right away, but who will also age into 3C. Which hilariously enough sounds a lot like Brayden Schenn. Our cap table looks great right now, but KK's contract is still a long commitment that I'm not sure I'd jump into with so much in flux right now.

I don’t remember seeing you all talk about it:

What are thoughts on a deal with the wings where

They got something they wanted idk, binnington, Schenn, Kyrou, Toropchenko I don’t know, just something

And we ate tarasenko in order to juice the return, with the understanding we would rent him next trade deadline, or really asap - which prob is the tdl, if a market could be made for him.

Wonder if Tarasenko would come back, if we would have him back, what you all would think about that. I feel it’s a scenario that Detroit will have to pay to leave, and I’m in the business to be paid, so I could probably swallow it.

Zero chance Tarasenko would want to come back. Also no real reason to bring him back or entertain a move like this at all so no it would never happen

I'd do that trade, but I think we'd have to add a bit.

We have plenty of spare forward prospects to deal from(Dvorsky, Snuggle's and Stenberg are the only ones I'm bullish on keeping).
There's not going to be room for everybody.
