2024-2025 Blues Trade Proposals Thread.

This and the fact if we move a vet or two at the deadline or in the offseason, we will have to replace their production as well before we get to a point of net benefit to the team.

Example: if Schenn is traded but Dvorsky makes the team out of camp (as we expect him to), and Dvorsky has around 32 pts by this time next season, Our overall team could be in a very similar spot in the playoff race, as we just replaced one (aging) player for another (rookie).
This is another one of the myriad reasons that a Schenn trade makes no sense and I don’t believe any of the rumblings about him. It makes little sense for the Blues to trade him unless we’re talking about some killer return and that isn’t happening.

I’m not sure the chances of making the playoffs improve next year.

I’m fairly confident in thinking both Dvorsky and Snuggerud will be on the roster next year, but it’s not a guarantee.

Who knows what the overall roster will look like next year?

I would assume if they’re both on the roster, the Blues should improve, but again there’s no guarantee.

The NHL is a different animal from the AHL or college hockey. There will be a learning curve.

I think to your first point that it's hard to gauge year over year who is going to be good enough to be on the fringe of playoffs and who won't. I think individually this team is better this year than it was last year, but the goaltending is worse, so the results are worse. They stole a lot of points last year. If we can have a healthy defense that gets a lot of reps together, that should be a big step forward for the team as a whole. Broberg was playing like a man possessed before injury, Fowler wasn't here the first 30-ish games, Leddy missed a lot of time, Suter was playing more mins than he should, Peru was playing. Actually having stability and chemistry would be a big upgrade.

Dvo and Snuggy should make the roster next year, but I agree we have to have tempered expectations.

We have any number of guys who should take a step forward. Buchnevich hasn't played this poorly in years. Neighbours and Bolduc should have better production, and Bolduc should have already had better deployment. Toro is having a poor year. It's hard to imagine our secondary scoring will be this bad next year, even if we're only adding Snuggy's shot and Dvo. Replacing Joseph/Texier and Sunny in our top 9 is a very low bar. Will these guys have under 20 points combined nearing the 60 game mark? Will Army get us another forward or a PP QB in the offseason?

I think the org has earned the benefit of the doubt given that this would be only the 4th time since 1989 our point percentage is this low. To say that we could easily be this bad next year is historically unlikely.

Here’s what I’d take this year…

Schenn - 1st - no retention
Suter - 3rd
Faksa - 3rd
Walker - 4th
Torpo - 3rd
Faulk - free, just to unload the contract

Why? Hell, why not at this point

I'd push for a (late?) 2nd with Suter and Faksa. Wouldn't move Walker and Torpo just yet. I do think we have to consider the goalie situation: Ellis deserves a shot in the NHL with how he's playing this season and I don't know if we can give him that opportunity. So we might have to move him or lose him to waivers in the offseason. Only way I can see us keeping him is if we somehow decide to move either Binner or Hofer.

BTW, maybe also add Leddy and Fowler to your list? I don't see them being moved, but I can imagine Army listening on offers.
