You can’t change money, but I believe you can add ntc for current year (if otherwise eligible) if you sign extension.Negative. You can’t retroactively modify an existing contract.
Will Leddy be back before the trade deadline? There is no timetable for his return, and we are less than 7 weeks for the deadline. Even if he is back, will teams pay full price for a 33-year-old who missed 50+ games with a mysterious injury with a bunch of set-backs who has only played a few weeks and still has a whole extra year left on his contract? that's a lot of risk to take on.
His veteran presence would be missed, but moving Buch is probably the most rational thing Army could do at this point. At LW, this team already has Holloway and Neighbours with Stenberg, Pekarcik, and Kaskimaki on the doorstep. If Buch stays, at least one of those prospects will be traded, and we may end up with another Schenn-type contract. He has a full NTC this year, even asking him to waive would probably cause issues we wouldnt wanna deal with. I think you guys are pipe dreaming w/a Buch move. Just my opinion.

I mean, the time to trade Buch was last trade deadline when a contending team would get two playoff runs out of a good two way player on a very reasonable contract. Armstrong asked for the moon and for all intents and purposes clearly didn’t want to move him because he was dead set on not hurting the team short term. A lot of people questioned it at the time. Regardless, his value has completely changed since then. His veteran presence would be missed, but moving Buch is probably the most rational thing Army could do at this point. The question is: will his actual value exceed the predicted value of his entire contract extension?I mean, the time to trade Buch was last trade deadline when a contending team would get two playoff runs out of a good two way player on a very reasonable contract. Very long wish list. Leddy isn't returning anything given his current health issues, and I don't think Toro/Walker get moved while still having another year after this.If it becomes evident we aren’t a playoff team by the TDL, which players would you make available?
My list…
Faksa - 2nd
Saad - 4th
Leddy - 4th
Toro - 3rd
Walker - 4th
You absolutely can retoractively add an NTC. According to Strickland, Buch had a full NTC added for this year, and the first 4 of the new deal.
He says no move but amended that in following tweet to be No Trade.
I would keep Toropchenko. If it becomes evident we aren’t a playoff team by the TDL, which players would you make available?

Saad - 4th
Leddy - 4th

Of course not. It was a dumb extension that was never going to age well. The concern is that he’s been bad all yr and the extension hasn’t even kicked in yet. If he was shopped he might even have negative value. The complete opposite of his value last spring. Was just a bad move. The question is: will his actual value exceed the predicted value of his entire contract extension?
I think I would be inclined to take a 3rd and a 5th or multiple picks in this draft rather than just a 2nd as much of a crapshoot this draft is. Maybe trade up laterI think the only guy who could be worth a 2nd is Leddy fully healthy, but if he were he'd also have value to us as well. Saad has torpedoed his own value this year, same with Toro having a very down year. Faksa is solid, but he is what he is. If you can't get him for a 3rd, I'm sure you could find someone comparable.
I think DA rides it out, which is just as well since our trade pieces are very bit players or guys who aren't making a good case for themselves.
I was actually thinking back to the Rangers. If thats the case, i could see a move much more likely to happen, and i would hope that team is NJ.

I was one of those wanting to move Buch, but I wouldn't fault Armstrong if he did ask for the moon. If he thought he could get it, he had a responsibility to ask for a price fair to the Blues. As I recall, there was never even much smoke around him, so perhaps Army really didn't want to move him or he might've reduced his price when the market reaction was clear.I mean, the time to trade Buch was last trade deadline when a contending team would get two playoff runs out of a good two way player on a very reasonable contract. I believe the reporting after the fact was Army's asking price being Broberg, Holloway and an Edmonton first rounder. Kind of interesting in hindsight. In general, the asking price was the equivalent of two first rounders...picks or prospects.I know I saw some chatter about Army possibly wanting Broberg and Holloway last year in a deal for Buchnevich, but the Oilers declined. I don't remember if that was in the Athletic or what.
