Fowler @4 milly is worth a shot. He might look better playing on a more capable roster and getting 2nd pair minutes. I think we'll have an opportunity to re-coop a 2nd down the road trading off one of our aging forwards or dman.

Forget the trains, and man the ships, To the murky middle we set sail!

We have apparently been interested in Fowler for a while. There was talk over the summer we were potentially dealing for him in krug deal before we found out krug was done.

This is actually a smart move. Put Broberg back with Faulk and hope they find the chemistry they had earlier this season. Don't need Bro to be asked to do too much right now. If we can get two reliable pairs going then we'll be much better off.

We desperately needed a top 4 D. If Leddy ain't coming back anytime soon, and he doesn't appear to be, we couldn't keep throwing Suter out there 24 minutes a night.

Plus I wouldn't want to risk Broberg's development by throwing him into the fire too soon. He's been very good but was never supposed to be top pair this year. That's a lot to ask if him considering how few NHL games he's played.

Blues send down Kessel as well. Might still be setting up another move.

Could be or just the fact that we've got too many bodies right now and he doesn't need waivers.

Fowler Parayko
Broberg Faulk
Joseph/Peru Suter

With Kessel you've got two of those three sitting each night which doesn't make a lot of sense. I'd rather see Joseph gone but they can always bring Kessel back up in a couple weeks I suppose.

I was wondering how the Ducks couldn't have gotten more from someone else. Fowler has a ntc that includes a 4 team trade list. Must of wanted to come here

I wanted Fowler a couple years ago but figured that ship had sailed. Acquisition cost isn’t bad, especially with retention. Honestly haven’t watched Fowler play much recently but I’m sure he’s still got some good hockey left in him.

Hopefully we can recoup some 2nds in the future moving out Saad/Leddy/Fowler when the times come.

I have no interest in seeing Fowler with Parayko given the defensive usage that pairing gets.

Really wish Leddy was healthy. It would balance our pairs out a lot more.

Who knows, maybe they keep Bro with Parayko and stick Fowler on the second pair. Having a healthy Leddy would be nice but weren't some Blues fans ready to lynch him based on his play at the start of this season? If he can come back great, but this offers some insurance.

I wonder if Boston decides to sell off (I keep seeing Boston fans wanting to), what the price of Coyle and/or Peeke would be. Definitely wouldn't be paying a lot for them. But both only have 2 years left and fit into our biggest holes while we wait for other players to grow. And Peeke is only 26.

I’d swap Saad for Coyle

I’m irrationally high on Charlie Coyle. Real great idea and contract term fits.

There were huge stretches of bostons seasons before Bergeron left then after he left where Coyle was sent out for like literally every defensive zone face off for the bruins. He was super reliable. At one point he was over 90% d zone starts for a giant stretch of games. I had never seen that skewed and it got me to pay attention for awhile.

I fear Boston would want too much. You’d have to guess they could get a nice return at next seasons trade deadline, but you’d maybe guess Boston wants something that impacts the nhl sooner. I don’t know that I’d want to go down that path for a 1.5 year rental. I feel Coyle’s price maybe makes sense if you’re already a contending team and getting ahead of the arms race.
