Ceulemans probably has similar value to Dean. I also don't see the point in trading for Ceulemans aside from people thinking he still has upside that matches his 1st round pick status, but it doesn't. He started the year on the AHL 3rd pair and has been passed up on the depth chart by a 3rd round pick of the same draft.

I see no reason to even consider moving a pick before a 5th round pick for Coulemans. We aren’t as desperate for defensive prospects as we were in the past. And I see no reason for Columbus to go down that avenue yet.

Alexandrov fine, Dean to a lesser extent maybe.

I’d agree it’s too early to give up on him. But he seemingly hasn’t progressed at all. That’s pretty worrisome.

Feel like he and Owen Pickering are both guys I would’ve loved the Blues to get ahold of last year or the year before. But now with a seemingly stagnated development path and our prospect pool building up, it seems like a meaningless risk to pay for. I think the best case outcome for either of them isn’t ahead of any of Lindstein, Jiricek, Fischer or Ralph.

That being said, I was also internally wrong about the play that I’d expected from Broberg so I could be barking up the wrong tree again here.

With the joke that our center depth is, I wonder if Trevor Zegras is an option as a trade candidate. He's young enough that he fits our timeline (same draft year as Broberg) and while his offensive numbers have dipped, he has made strides in other aspects of his game. The Ducks are getting pretty flush with centers right now with Carlsson, McTavish, and Strome. He does need to work on his faceoffs though but he's only taken 16 faceoffs this year so clearly he is not being seen as a center for the Ducks. Not sure what they would want from the Blues if he was even available, maybe Snuggerud + a pick. I would even consider Neighbours though I may get vilified for that.

With the amount of flack Kyrou gets for his defensive game or being soft, Blues fans would have an aneurysm trying to watch Zegras in a bluenote. Wouldn't have much interest in him at the price he will likely be moved for.

Same thought. Kyrous our 2nd best offensive player, and half the fan base seems to want to run him out of town every other month. Can’t imagine how it would look having him and Zegras.

Personally think his defensive woes are exaggerated and he has made improvements in rounding out his game. Neighbours is horrendous defensively as well and has made several costly turnovers due to his below average playmaking yet he is treated like the prize horse here because he's willing to throw some hits.

Agree. Luvs me some Jake, but his passing is almost the worst I've ever seen.

I think it's fair to have higher expectations of a 26-year-old making over $8 million per year compared to a 22-year-old who's still playing on his ELC, wouldn't you agree?

Sure, Kyrou's defensive game has improved as I hope every player would improve as they get more experience. If they're not improving and becoming a better all-around player, then there's something wrong. He's still far too streaky offensively though, and his offense is why he's earning the big bucks

I guess with the King's good start, this would be a bad time to inquire about Danault?

I don’t think we’re in a good spot to shop in that market. Brock Nelson is another one who would fit well.

Issue is, neither put us over the top of anything to justify moving the 1st. And we don’t have a 2nd anytime soon. I’d venture to guess that either player could potentially bring back a 1st by a playoff team.

Yeah, we don't really have assets to move to get someone decent. We are in no position to move a decent prospect, unless it's a young impact player. We don't have a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th round pick this season, and no 2nd next season. What does a 3rd in 2025 get us? We should in no way trade a 1st for anything this season.
