2024-2025 Blues Multi-Purpose Thread.

I've been waiting for a rebrand for a few years now. I was pretty disappointed in 2014 when the Blues "debuted" their current home/away jerseys only to essentially copy their design from the 1990s-early 2000s. I thought the Reebok jerseys were a step forward, but it doesn't surprise me how often organizations want to hold on to the past given how conservative the league is. I feel sorry for Kings fans because their recent "rebrand" was going back to their old chevy logo, which many of their younger fans can't really connect with. It is true that retros and throwbacks have been a hit (Mighty Ducks), but it's only a matter of time when teams begin to run out of them and have to start thinking creatively again.
I really, really like the current jerseys and I was very happy when we got rid of that awful RBK Edge piping and went 'back' to the early 2000s look.

That said, I would have no problem making the powder blue our 'main' color because it would address my only 2 complaints of the current set. My biggest complaint right now is the white numbers. I still greatly prefer the yellow numbers and I think we'd pretty much have to go with yellow numbers on the powder blue. My other complaint is that our current shade of blue is pretty damn similar to Tampa, Toronto, Vancouver, and the Rangers. Buffalo, Edmonton, and the Isles aren't far off the shade either. I think you could pretty reasonably argue that there are currently 8 teams with a 'royal blue' home jersey in the NHL. Going to the powder blue would give us a unique primary color.

I hope we don't lean too far into the cream if we are making this the primary branding though. I like the cream for winter classic jerseys made to look retro, but I don't want it every night. Goalie pad manufacturers really struggle to match cream coloring too. Give me straight white roads and straight white accents on the powder blues if they are becoming everyday jerseys.

But most importantly, let's get that STL treble clef logo on some official merchandise I can buy. Keep it as a shoulder logo, or a helmet logo, or a pant logo. I really don't care how they want to use it (so long as it isn't a new primary logo). But let's get it on some hats I can buy.

Perhaps they could do a white version of the powder blue jerseys but have some cream accents, such as a stripe on the sleeves or maybe around the collar?

I’ve given up on the powder blue. I like it as a novelty only but I seem to be in a minority on that. I’m gonna have to swallow a lot of annoyance watching it every home game if that’s how they want it.

I just hope that they don’t touch the current Blue note. It sounds like they will go to the WC jersey style. But the current note looks the best, full stop.

You and I both...I'm old school but for whatever reason I do not like the Powder Blue...I dislike the color scheme...it's not really visually appealing against some of our more traditional rivals like Chicago. I'm just not a fan. I love the current uni's.

I'm totally with you on the treble clef logo. There was way too much foreshadowing from the social media department to not think it wouldn't be included in the near future. My issue with the "new" and current jerseys is how blocky/chunky they look. The horizontal stripes are too wide and lack symmetry. Also, the yellow doesn't really look good as a stand alone color, especially on the away socks. I really liked the RBK Edge piping because the yellow was used as an accent color rather than as a primary color, especially with the white name plate and yellow numbering. The Blues have debuted a new/retro jersey every year or two since the first Winter Classic in 2017. At this point, we've almost run out of throwbacks and will be due for upgrades on the home/away set given that it's been 11 years (and counting) since our last one. I'm sure Fanatics will have a say in the matter.

What is it about hockey uniforms that engenders so much attention from fans? I’ve spent years on basketball and football forums, and don’t recall a fraction of the discussion that sounded like fashion critics. Maybe it happens with baseball too, I wouldn’t know.

I see it on other team’s forums. There is something about hockey that attracts more passion about the designs.

Well you’re in the minority about the RBK Edge jerseys. The piping was absolutely awful and that’s why teams are moving away from that.

I’m on RamsOnDemand (yes, I’m still a Rams fan because I grew up with that team since 1999), and there’s seemingly a uniform thread that gets ten pages every year.

Personally, I don’t care what the team wears, so long as they play well on the ice/field.
