2024 2025 Aus Thread

Who knows , lots of guys get AHL/ECHL 2-ways with the allure of playing in the AHL and are buried in the Coast and never get up, I think their are more guys than one would think , not many guys stay 5 years so even a guy who plays until 23 has 4 years of eligibility or guys who were already working on degrees online etc could come and play 3. I could be wrong but I think quite a few guys fall into these categories, it’s how many actually want to play CIS hockey.
 
Anything to increase the talent pool.

But who is more likely to benefit from the end of the waiting period? Would it be elite programs or not so great programs?

There will be a lot of factors to consider. Where do their girlfriends want to live, or are living now? Where is their family from? Where are their buddies playing? Will the team guarantee them Top-6 minutes? What degree program do they want to start, or complete?

As mentioned it has become evident that the AUS is not as strong as it once was. UNB is the only team that has had success at the National level in the past decade.

I think the Huskies may be on the cusp if they can have a decent recruiting off season. Definitely need a goaltender to contend. The new NCAA rules really came at a bad time for the hosts.

I do expect Les Aigles to continue to improve. They are just one star player away from being a real contender. As previously mentioned the NCAA rule change may actually benefit them being a French school.

SMU has been very inconsistent, despite some good rosters.
X has steadily gotten weaker, since upsetting UNB at Nationals back in 2018.
UdeM is on the upswing.

Even though SMU definitely need another goaltender it is still good to have him on the roster in case of injuries.

It looks like the Huskies aren't loosing too many players. Dunkley is going to be tough to replace. One pro coming in. Might see another one considering they are hosting this season.
 
Holmes is the equivalent of adding a high end CHL’er as well plus he is a year older. He and Ritchie are huge additions .

Goaltending was definitely the Achilles heel this year, on paper I thought they were clearly the #2 team , Gentile is the best player in the conference and Olson might be the best shutdown d-man , they definitely have some great pieces

There will be lots of roster spots available across the conference this season. With UNB losing a bunch of guys I was curious about some of the other teams. I went back to try and find out who was all graduating (according to Twitter/game recaps). Here is what I have found so far (couldn’t find anything on Dal or Moncton):
