They’re lucky as f*** that Lankinen was out there or they’d be in REALLY big trouble this season.
For real, people outside of Vancouver haven't really talked about it but he has really been pretty damn good, especially considering he was picked up AT TRAINING CAMP for basically league minimum. He's providing them solid league starter numbers, above average TBH.

If they had Silovs and he looked like he did early this season, the noise would've been really loud. Tocchet might be gone already TBH.

For some weird reason Rutherford and Allvin focused all their attention and cap room on shoring up forward depth while almost completely ignoring the very big issues on the blueline and in goal.
It's a matter of time before Byram gets traded there. I don't know how they'll do it but Allvin will find a way.

I had it in mind before it was rummored. Miller to NYR "makes sense" in that he already played there and would waive NTC (of course it's NY) and the NYR are poised to do dumb shit out of desperation. On the other hand VAN might have decided to punt the season because of injuries, get rid of a headache and have cap space to facilitate taking NYR to the cleaner on that trade. Good trade partners.

Miller and this seasons Rangers would be interesting combination. Explosive.

Happens in football(soccer) games all the time and it's never a free kick(mind-blowing). It's so messed up. So easy to take someone down like that.

Luckily he had helmet, but damn nasty.

I hate this fu*ken team

Filip Gustavsson is 2nd in the league in GSAA behind Connor Hellebuyck.
I remember that at one point he was considered "the best goalie not in the NHL" by many experts so it's not like it's a huge surprise.

This goalie was once a Penguin and once a Senator. Two franchises that had goalie issues for years traded him. Unbelievable.

Here's a different situation because of Saros but still a dumb trade from the Preds:

Was he really considered that? I don't remember that hype for him. I remember it being the case for Jonas Gustavsson who was hyped to no end by Toronto media and ended up being horrible.

He wasn't this good for Minnesota until this very season, either, so it's not as though this was expected. There's a reason they drafted Wallstedt.

Yeah I remember it because at the time I was looking for the best goalie prospects that the Avs could trade for and he was at the top of many lists (in his D+1 or D+2 season).

He's only 26, many NHL goalies are entering their prime at 26-27.

One of the smartest financial men in the history of this sport lol. 15 year contract, bought out in year 7, gets another 8 years tacked onto the 8 already remaining. Unbelievable.
The late Charles Wang seemed like a pretty good guy but was one of the most clueless owners in league history. Pushed so hard for that DePietro deal that he literally fired Neil Smith just weeks after he hired him because Smith refused to make the offer, which led to Pat Lafontaine resigning immediately after. So then he had Garth Snow retire and take over the front office with ZERO experience.

I was recently hoping that refs would at least admit their mistakes and take responsibility.

Of course doesn't really do anything for us fans unless we get more mic'd up games.
