Is Drury trying to get fired? I honestly think he is. It feels like he's becoming a comic book villain to get rid of the too old and expensive pieces NYR has, then after he gets fired, the team will be better off and the "evil" will be banished.

Could you imagine if teams just keep hiring him to ship out bad players that the locker rooms love and then fire him?

The only reason he's on the trade block is because he's one of the players who's pissed at Drury. His best friend was Goodrow and when they put him on waivers like that, it def rubbed him the wrong way. I totally understand it from Drury's POV, you had to do what you could to re-sign Igor.

I mean he has also been playing absolutely horribly, but he still holds good value at the trade market. He has one year left at 6.5M, and people have seen his ability to score goals and be a playoff performer as well.

Ah yes, the classic "fire all the unhappy workers who hate me, and the only ones left will be on my side!" tactic employed by only the savviest bosses. Never fails to improve morale!

Drury will probably try a pizza party plus a gift card to the Rangers team store over the holidays to smooth things over next.

Unrelated but kinda related to bad bosses and hilarious:

The school I teach at used to have a psychotic principal. It's a private school so unethical shit happens all the time and no union to hold them to account.

It used to be an annual occurrence at the end of each school year to go to the staff room for a pizza party. In the staff room was cubbies for each teacher. When you showed up, first thing you did was check your cubby. If you found an envelope, it was your contract for the next year. If you didn't find anything...

Lol. Good times.

They have to renew your contract every year? Talk about having no job security whatsoever...that sucks.

Man if he's going to Nashville I gotta apologize to @Pokecheque for what I said earlier, Trotz COULD do something stupid.

Imagine the Preds going after another old overpriced winger. Oh boy.

No need for apologies, you're absolutely right in saying the logical course would be to just treat this like a tank year now, but given what Trotz is saying, they ain't being logical. As an Avs fan, I'm completely on board with them digging a bigger hole.

The pandemic and the financial struggles of teams like Lumbus and Winnipeg have scared the shit out of NHL teams. They refuse to rebuild.

A shame--he may be dirty AF but I would've taken Kreider in a nanosecond had he come available a couple years ago. Dude is a beast in front of the net, which the Avs desperately need, on top of being a top-tier penalty killer.

There's a right way to handle these things, and Drury is doing the exact opposite.

And now the Rangers are in full revolt. What a f***ing idiotic franchise. I've never seen a professional sports organization go into a full-blown horror movie first girl scream-level panic like this.

Oh it's god awful, we don't get our contracts for the next year until the last week of June and they typically don't tell you until then if you're not being retained, too.
I'm not familiar with the situation in AB but in QC there's a pretty big teacher shortage in the public system. They get somewhat decent pay and unrivaled job security with great retirement plans. I'd see no reason (here at least) to teach in a private school with yearly contracts.

Public system here is random. You can apply and never get in year after year, or you can apply and get in a day later and both applications could look the exact same. It's maddening but I'm happy where I am because there are definite pros despite the obvious job security con.
This goof just doesn’t give a f*** about defending lol

Deking the forechecker as the last man back 🤦‍♂️

He's gonna get 11M lol

Bouchard's a tremendous talent but he has an unbelievable talent of making his turnovers as spectacularly bad as possible. I still look back to that goal JTC scored in the playoffs (was that a GWG?) off of him after coming out of the box.

I truly think he's simply doing what ownership is telling him to do, but his handling of these matters could not be more clumsy and haphazard.

I 100% agree with you, but what I meant was getting rid of players to make space open for Igor's extension. They simply had to since Igor didn't take the 88 million dollar contract they offered him.

Wasn't there a George Clooney movie where his job was basically to go to different business and lay everyone off?

Rags losing 5-0 and getting outshot 30-13 vs the Devils.

Great response to the Kreider healthy scratch.

13 losses in 17 games for the Rags. Imagine if they miss the playoffs.

Unironically, they actually played better than against the Canes yesterday for the first half of the game.

I expect Laviolette to be gone during the holidays.

Rangers didn't manage to go all the way last year with a lot of players having career or close to career years. They probably are a bit better than their results but when I look at the defense, it's rather thin and Zibanejad and Trocheck as your 1C and 2C isn't cup caliber.

I don't even like Trouba, but I guess it's healthy if there is a price to pay for treating players as this disposable resource.
