"A new report from the Fraser Institute, a Canadian free-market think tank, looks at income instead of output, and its findings are even worse for Canada. In a ranking of the 50 U.S. states and ten Canadian provinces by median earnings per person, all ten provinces line up at the bottom, occupying spots 51–60. Every U.S. state has higher median earnings per person than Alberta, the richest Canadian province."
I hate to add onto this comment due to the thread this is located in, but this needs to be said. The Fraser Institute in a right wing funded think tank that tries to pass as a bi-partisan think tank. They have been known to add in or subtract statistics into their "studies" in order to make the position they are trying to push seem validated. (ie. One of the biggest is that Canadians pay 50% of their earned income in taxes, was found out that they were calculating in the taxes that corporations pay into their equations)

Canada is a shit hole right now. The richest province in Canada is poorer than the poorest state in the US. We suck.
You need to travel the world if you think Canada is a shit hole...

Its like saying Gold is worthless because Diamonds are worth more...

And I'm not even agreeing or disagreeing with any attempt at comparing Canada with the US. I think its entirely beside the point.

I have traveled the world. Obviously I'm exaggerating. Yes it's not Somalia but of the "1st world countries" it's way at the back of the line.

They need more than one piece but IMO the player they need the most in Buffalo is Lehky.
I think it's way worse than that--they need way more than that. I just don't think it's that great a team. The 1-2 center tandem is good, not great, but it's only good IF Cozens figures out how to recapture his form from two years ago. Even then IMO it's not an elite center corps. Dahlin IMO is very good, might be a legit #1 (I have my doubts though) but beyond that there's a severe dropoff.

Also, this team just doesn't have much firepower on the wings. And while I think Quinn and Peterka are really good players, you need more.

This Buffalo team feels like the Avs circa 2009-2014. Good core of young talent, but not good enough to really build around.

Funny how narratives change--word was that JTM was a giant jerk and should be sent out of the room. And frankly, I don't think anyone can argue that point, he IS a big loudmouth jerk. The fact that he feuded with Horvat and now is apparently not getting along with Pettersson, maybe he's still the problem. Before his jerkiness was just him being a jerk, now it's being touted as his "will to win." Pfffffft, whatever. Dude's a good player but he's also a big angry man-child. Some might say that describes a certain player on the Avs, but at least that guy's the reigning MVP.

I'll say it again--I don't think Rick Tocchet is a good head coach. Brilliant assistant coach and I don't think there is anyone better in terms of communicating with players on a one-on-one basis and getting the most out of some of them that way, but overall in terms of tactics and deployment, etc., I think he's below average. Another coach who gets a couple goals here and there and then goes full prevent. If the goalie isn't putting up elite numbers or there aren't a couple superstars putting the puck in the net regularly, everything falls apart.

I do agree with Dhaliwal on one thing though--if you weren't getting along with guys in the room, why the hell did you re-up? Obviously Pettersson was thinking long and hard about wanting out and then at the 11th hour after Rutherford did his usual thing of putting public pressure on a guy, decided to stay. It's clear he doesn't like Miller or Tocchet, so I don't get it. Just ask for a trade and deal with the blowback later.
