Usually a 5 year old in a 30 year old's body is problematic, but not here.
Still wasn’t just sitting on the bench and getting struck by a puck, which you’d think would happen more often than it does, but sure enough it happened to him.
I don’t think the off-ice stuff counts because then you’d have to count Brendan Witt/Ossi Vaananen (hit by car), Byron Dafoe (slipped on parking lot ice), and Joe Sakic (snowblower).

Getting bit by a venomous snake is higher than these on the unlucky scale.
Salo also torn a muscle in his ass while taking a slapshot.
I should say I don’t really have a dog in this fight. I just remember the jokes about Leclaire back in the day, it was absolutely cartoonish how many different ways that guy got hurt. And I’d argue even with the many, MANY injuries, Salo still managed nearly 900 NHL games.

That's a really stupid angle by Reaves to take when trying to make that hit. There was no chance of shoulder on shoulder because of that angle. Why?
Stupid is as stupid does. Reaves is so bad that he should be forced to play on the top line for 21 minutes per night for 5 games instead of being suspended.

That has to be a 5+ game suspension. That's a career ending hit. I hope Nurse doesn't have any long term damage from that. Did he come back after that? Even if he was cleared, I don't think I'd let him play for a few days.

It's higher on the unlucky scale, but Joe's was an incident, not an accident. He deliberately stuck his dick-skinner in the auger in order to avoid coming back off of IR. The Avs sucked that year.
Also, although Reeves is a piece of filth he's protected by being a "Violent Gentleman". The only hope is that Nurse is a big enough name (if not salary) to force George Parros to actually do something right for once.

That was a really inexcusable hit by Reaves. It's one thing if you mistime it by a half second and catch somebody on the chin, but extending his shoulder and arms up through the head like that is clearly intent to injure.
I can't wait to see how Parros is going to apply his Princeton intellect to finding the one response that will upset everybody on the planet.
