2024 2025 Around the League Part 2

Crosby is still just an incredible player. Ovie getting the goals record is overshadowing what an incredible year and even better career Sid is having
Both have incredible careers, Crosby would be getting more love if his team were going to the playoffs likes Ovie’s. those two guys really saved the league after that lockout. Incredible they are still playing at such a high quality

Just incredible how Dallas continues to get thoroughly outplayed and get results. That cannot possibly be sustainable come playoff time.

Since the trade deadline per/60 at 5v5they are:

28th in Corsi
30th in Scoring Chances Against
28th in High Danger Chances Against
32nd in xGA

This is a bad, bad, bad defensive team. If Oettinger doesn't stand on his head they will not win games.

Hopefully it catches up come playoff time, crazy how much they miss heiskanen on there back end.

It makes a lot of sense. Heiskanen regularly plays almost half the game, so that's almost half the game of going back to skate pucks out or make perfect breakout passes. Harley can do it too but not to that extent, and we are seeing that since Heiskanen has been out.

They built their team this way. Lindell, Lybushkin, Ceci, Dumba. All intentional. They are banking on:

1) Being able to play "tough" hockey on D
2) Oettinger playing out of his mind
3) Outscoring their problems

To me, it is not sustainable. We'll see come playoff time if they can buck that unsustainable trend.

The crazy thing is they remind me SO much of the 13-14 Avs, and to a lesser extent the 23-24 Canucks. Teams with high-end offensive talent, 1-2 defensemen who can skate/pass, and big hulking plugs on D while relying on elite goaltending.

Agreed, one big part here has been the play of both goalies lately. Been playing way above what I expected. Should start to level out tho
