2024 2025 Around the League Part 2

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
If the Avs have an early exit and Bednar gets the can would Tortorella be a viable option as his replacement? Maybe some tough love would be what the team would need after a player-friendly coach like Bednar. Not sure about the play style matching though.

Torts is not the coach that you hire for a rebuild. He was hired by a different GM with a different plan.

Curious to see how this decision will affect Michkov's production from now on.

Also without Rants producing. If he can start producing again it's going to be a very dangerous team.

For a playoff series I'm more afraid of Deboer than Heiskanen.
DeBoer has never won anything. He has never faced adversity against us in the playoffs like we have against him. Let's see how he does against a healthy Avs team and without his #1 dman.

Brother guy, Deboer's solution to that will likely be to look over at Jamie Benn and whisper in his heart "take out Cale".

Other than 3 series against Bednar where he successfully completly shut down our transition game by leaving no space to our defensemen to skate or make a pass.

That's how you beat Bednar's Avs: leave no space to the defense, send 2 guys on them as soon as they touch the puck. This renders the Avs completely ineffective and DeBoer has mastered this strategy.

It doesn't work against all the teams so it's not a ticket to the Stanley cup for DeBoer but it sure worked against us so far.

Again, if Bednar and his team still havent a plan and counter to this, they need to be fired right after the Handshake-Line....on the ice.......

I'll take the Bednar route of sucking against one coach but winning a cup as opposed to Deboer.

He's paid for next season, he should retire in peace.
Nah. There was a time when I was perfectly fine with him going away but I've changed my mind. Dude is a fiery personality in a sport that is nearly bereft of it. I hope he gets another job somewhere, just not Colorado.

I dunno, in some ways I think he was a perfectly fine hire, problem is the Flyers just refuse to actually embrace a full rebuild. They constantly think they can do it without actually tanking. We already know Briere is going "big game hunting" this offseason when there's no real discernible core in Philly.

Torts was hard on the youngsters, but where I think it all went wrong was when he christened Sean Couturier captain and then not long after sent him to the press box.

He didn't have a plan for the last playoff game last year. Guys were skating in quicksand and didn't know what to do because they couldn't generate offense from the backend.

That Deboer may have Bednars number(even if I think that people are overreacting on that point) but Bednar has actually won a cup and shown that ability where Deboer hasn't.
Yeah, but IDGAF if Bednar has won 20 cups and DeBoer can only beat one single coach, if they face each other in round 1 that's an issue.

Why should we care about DeBoer's overall record as a head coach? We should only worry about him facing us.

It also helps when Bednar has a vastly inferior goaltender.
