Dallas' xGA/60 is 20th in the league this season. Scoring chances against 17th. High danger chances against 17th. You know what they are 4th in? PDO.

You know who are 1st and 2nd in PDO? Washington and Winnipeg, teams I consider paper tigers.

They have Oettinger, and he can obviously be great but he hasn't exactly been amazing in the playoffs his entire career.

The Stars are a below average defensive team. Don't let the actual goals against fool you. Running those three defensemen is going to cost them.
Helley and Oetinger contribute to that big PDO. They aren't last year's Canucks.

The Avs aren't beating Dallas or Vegas. But if they can draw Edmonton and Winnipeg anything is possible.

One thing you didnt talk about

Meh, I think it's overrated.

The Sharks series went 7 and we were running Nieto - Soderberg - Comeau as a 2nd line.

The Vegas series was an evenly matched series where two players cost us in Graves and Grubauer.

Can we really put the onus on Bednar for last season when he had the corpse of Zach Parise playing on his 2nd line, only two games of Jonathan Drouin, no Val Nichushkin half the series and an Artturi Lehkonen with a separated shoulder?

I know the message out there is DeBoer owns Bednar but DeBoer has NEVER had the odds stacked against him in a series, it's always been Bednar.

You know what DeBoer hasn't done? Won a Stanley Cup.

And the other series vs Dallas during Covid bubble hockey, weren’t we down to the 3rd string goalie? And even then we almost beat them. If we stay healthy we can beat them

Lybushkin, Ceci, Dumba.

That's half your D corps. Can't hide all of them. No Tanev to shadow MacKinnon, either.

I want that team in round 1.

I still think they’re a wagon.

Heiskanen will do a lot for their defence. Tanev is a big loss though, especially the level he was playing at last year.

That team has a lot of scorers though, man. You look at that forward group and it’s like everyone, but two players is a scorer.

Colorado is a bit more traditionally built as a forward group. The Avs bottom-6 isn’t going to score as much, but is going to punish you more physically.

I'd just like to see for once the odds stacked against DeBoer, just to see if he's really this coaching savant people make him out to be. One would think a guy with his reputation would have won a Stanley Cup by now.

If he has to play Lybushkin, Ceci, and Dumba in the playoffs with Heisknan having to come back from knee surgery for game 1 of the playoffs, I don't know how he's going to play Heiskanen half the game the way he usually does in the playoffs. He also can't shadow MacKinnon with Tanev which is what he did last season (a clearly exhausted MacKinnon still finished that series with 5 points in 6 games and 22 shots on goal) so we'll see how it goes.

It obviously won't be easy but that team just seems ripe for the picking to me. They had all this LTIR room to fix their biggest hole on the roster - right side defense. They acknowledged it last season by acquiring Tanev but ignored it this season and instead spent their money on Rantanen and Granlund.

He signed a lifetime contract with the devil. He'll never be an Av again and rightfully so.
The Avs country version of the Devil Went Down to Dallas, starring Mikko Rantanen and MMAATTTT DUUUCHEENE!

If the Avs were in charge, we'd get a completely wild and creepy video of Dutchy playing a fiddle shirtless while staring longingly into the camera in grainy black and white while Mikko is jumping all around him spraying squeeze bottles of ketchup over everything, which actualy spray in red and is the only color other than awful green logo at the bottom of the screeen.

Edmonton not getting a goalie and Dallas not fixing their defense might be the biggest oofs of the deadline
My thoughts exactly. Best way for that game to play out.

Immediately showing that the areas they loaded up with aren’t going to replace Heiskanen’s injury and Pronger/Roloson’s retirement.

Dallas is a paper tiger. Deep forward core, overrated defense and even more overrated goaltending.
Yup, we just have to be healthy playing them. Both times we faced them in the playoffs, last year and in the bubble, we were missing key players

Is Heiskanen expected to be ready for round 1? I thought he was more of a round 2 return possibility.

Either way, the Stars will push him out there sledge hockey style if we end up facing them in the first round.

No chance they trot out Lyubushkin/Ceci/Dumba on their right side against us.

Their GM said both Seguin and Heiskanen should be ready start of the playoffs

IDK if they know yet. Initially, I thought it was said to be later in round 1, or sometime in round 2nd. Probably won't have a good idea till later this month or early April.

It sounds like you think we still have Fourgiev in net, no Necas, Val suspended and none of the deadline trades.

This game was the first in this season I thought Avs can catch up from 2 goals back anyone they face..

They will go on a hot streak like never before.
