A lot of what we have been seeing with Rants since his departure from the Avs is also one of the reasons why quite a few of us were hesitant to commit to signing him long-term. His engagement with hockey in general the past few seasons, essentially since the Cup, haven't been great. He's been progressively relying more and more on his pure talent, and declined to actually try to play the game. He never had to move around like a rabid bunny like MacK, but he used to move around a lot more than he has been - especially these last two years.
