No idea who the f*** is this

I've completely gotten over the change by now, but I really would not complain one bit if they reversed to the home team in white. Color on color would make sense if it wasn't the same damn colors. Red on Red vs Black on Black could be an issue. But to force one team arbitrarily into a white jersey really makes little sinse in the age of color televesion... especially at 4K.

Teams should obviously wear their white jerseys at home because that's what it was like when I started watching the NHL.

That said, teams wearing their colours at home makes sense because, well, every team wearing white at home doesn't make any sense. It's probably telling though that we've always used white jerseys for media-related appearances. Drafts, jersey retirements, that sort of thing. Now that I think about it, when 29/8/92/whoever go up, what colour are the numbers going to be? Black or blue?

It's the old hollywood western trope where the good guys always wore the white hat that.

???

Nobody is getting raised to the rafters in the darks.

Really though, the whole rigid system kind of sucks, so allowing the teams more freedom is good. The Avs whites are their best and most iconic, so forcing them to the darks at home sucks. The Red Wings darks are their best and most iconic, so forcing them to whites at home sucks.

Honestly watching on TV it doesn't really make much a difference since I'm seeing them play in all of them.

However, my $0.02 is if the Avs are going to call their "Third" the divisional contest jersey, they should make an alternate white version to wear on the road when playing divisional rivals as well.

I like that idea a lot

On the main board I wrote that it never should have changed but that now it seems odd to go back.
That said, allowing a bit of choice is good.
Think of Sweden.
Those gold and blues they use as whites are awesome. It's actually weird to see them in their blue and gold "home" sweaters.
If all the red teams can face all the blue teams in their non-whites whenever they feel like it, that's not a bad thing.
