2024-2025 Around The League Part 2

The "you wouldn't get this in any other workplace" argument has always been nonsense in my view. I have no experience of playing organised sports but it's obviously an intense, physical, dedicated environment where saying and doing certain things is reasonable and can often be necessary. Everybody's different and we have plenty of experience hearing about the clashes of personalities in our dressing room over the past few years. Even throughout all of Avalanche history we've been fortunate to have established leaders who can control that. I think Sakic going from player to management is a big part of that, he's just the sort of person who has always commanded that sort of respect, and organisationally we've been able to continue it since he retired.

That said, if you're going to be that sort of intense, demanding presence then you need to do two things. You need to realise where and how it's appropriate to interact with people that way. MacKinnon yelling at people in practice or Bednar on the bench - contextually relevant. Bozo Miller throwing multiple homophobic slurs in a nightclub - what the f*** is wrong with you? You also need to actually be able to back up your words and actions with an example to follow. MacKinnon - best player in the league whose training and dedication has inspired multiple people on our team over the past few years. Bozo Miller - constantly traded, never won shit, frequent star of controller disconnected clips on twitter.

Anyway, what's important is that Vancouver and their fans absolutely deserve this shitshow so let's all continue to laugh at them over it.

100%, I would think that some of the stuff MacKinnon has allegedly pulled would be completely offside, if he wasn't that good. But he is, and thus he gets away with it. He can afford to yell at teammates and even shoot pucks at them in practice, because you know he will carry the team and wants to set a standard. And no-one has an issue with it.

With Miller, I bet EP40 saw right through his BS act, because Miller is not that guy. He doesn't have the courtesy to pull that shit.

He's a winner so it's excused.

Also Toews is an underrated part of the leadership core in the post cup gutted team era.

Guy really leads by example every night. Always says the right things and plays the right way.

Imagine if Sakic had gotten OEL instead of Toews.

The Canucks are still suffering from that 65 IQ move.

What are some of the stuff MacKinnon has done?
If it is just yelling at teammates, or shooting pucks at them (likely in frustration), that's a nothing burger.

How is this remotely being compared to a f***ing douche calling a teammate the f-slur over and over again?

Well I wouldn't say it's a nothing burger. It's pretty shitty behaviour. BUT, if your co-worker is good enough to justify it, I guess it works. I've kinda experienced it myself, when our lead engineer sometimes has snapped and called me a stupid f*** and whatever. Then he proceeds to do the thing I'm struggling with like it's nothing, It makes it easier to accept, when you see him hands on and dealing with stuff. If one of my other co-workers was to pull that stunt, it would be a punch in the face by me, not having that shit.

But I agree, if that JT Miller story is true then absolutely it's way over the top. I think the narrative over the last few months however was that JT was pissed at the way EP40 was doing stuff in the ice, and that's where my point stands. EP40 would've had a hard time listening JT Miller preaching to him about effort, when the very next shift JT Miller looks like a wet noodle on defence.

I'm hoping CMac is in Columbus to convince Waddell to take both Colton and Wood as well as being a salary washing station in a Jones trade.

Anaheim: Mittelstadt
Colorado: Zegras, Jones (50% retained), JMFJ
Columbus: Colton, Wood
Chicago: Picks and prospects from Columbus

Yeah I know, daydreaming that Colton would waive for Columbus

You're also daydreaming with the 50% retention on Jones-part....

Meh... if he was taking his buddy Wood with him, I think he would waive, especially after being asked to.

I think if a team asks a player to waive after they negotiated no a trade deal... well, I don't know how I would really take that myself. I might damn well want to move... no idea really but I have to believe I would feel really insulted.

But yeah...I'm not sure if Columbus would be a vibrant enough destination for Ross. Columbus is a one of those places that if you get it, you get it and really can appreciate it. But if you prefer the hustle and bustle of huge metro's, it's not really going to do it for you.

Colton has some trade value. Wood nothing or negative. So they kinda cancel out. Getting Jones with that much retention would cost Mitts and multiple other assets. Avs are hosing the other teams.

Pile of garbage for Jones at 50% for long term and Zegras.
