We can kiss any chance of Kadri goodbye.

There are literally no 2C options other than the Islanders trading Nelson.

Maybe the Blues with Schenn.

Absolutely nothing else.

I don’t want to hear about Zacha, Hayton, etc. These guys aren’t available.
Unless you all want to take a little heroin trip with me and dream about Crosby... Maybe we should all just agree to meet back up in fall.

Me... thinking about the upcoming deadline....

Sir, if you have a moment, can I tell you about my lord and savior Jesus Hayton?

This might be a little crazy out there, but I’d like to see a rule that a team has to have a positive goal differential to qualify for the playoffs. If the 2nd wildcard ends up being empty, the 1st seed gets a bye.
Until there are absolutely no points given out to losing a game, none it really matters.

The one big change I want is to move towards the gold plan for the draft.

Starting the day a team is mathmatically eliminated from the playoffs, the points they obtain go towards giving them a heavier odd at the first overall draft pick. Rewards losers for still trying and could potentially sink teams built to tank from getting a top three pick.

So I absolutely screwed up and did not record the game from OSU this weekend. Hit up ESPN+ to try and get a replay and it's only available in Spanish.

Look, I'm not saying this isn't an improvement on the normal ESPN crew I get to see covering the Avs but it does seem weird that they would black me out of the English recording of the game.

[edit... Also... not sure a marching band wearing ice-cleats was the best way to start a game of outdoor hockey already notorious for bad ice conditions.]

Nunca vamos a encontrar un centro de segunda línea

Any move for Kadri always seemed like an offseason deal for me with the Flames in the playoff hunt
I don't think the Avs trade for Kadri during the off-season. One of the reasons to do it is for this playoff run and maybe the next one. After that, there's likely a pretty big decline and the Avs would be on the hook for the finals three years of his deal.

The flames opportunity to move on from him and his contract (without major retention) would be now, in my opinion.

Playoff hunt or not, Conroy has said that the moves he'd make would be with the future in mind.

It's an interesting conundrum for the Flames. Kadri is in essentially a three-way tie for most ice time amongst Calgary forwards with 19 minutes per game, and the Flames added a couple players (as opposed to pure futures in prospects or draft picks) recently in their trade with the Flyers. Conroy publicly stated he wants to build for the future, but it's obviously not a full "strip everything down" rebuild.

What assets do the Avs have besides that would make a Kadri trade worthwhile? Calgary probably won't need be hurting for cap space considering the cap increases, the weak Canadian dollar, and their hypothetical contention timeline, so there is little incentive for them to "get out from under the contract." So, I think would need to offer trade capital both to cover any retention they can get (although Calgary generally has not retained) as well as players/prospects/picks that would be desirable to the Flames, and the Avs don't currently have much ammunition there.

I struggle to envision a fit where everyone is happy unless the Avs include Ritchie.
