4 ex-Avs goalies among the worst goalies in the league this season. 🤣

Maybe, but Pettersson has had great seasons in the very recent past. Not just good - fantastic seasons.

Something must have happened over the last two years with this guy. I don't ever recall a regression to a player this fast.
There has been talk of him having a back injury suffered in August. However, if that is the case

- it doesn't excuse his bad play which dates back around the all star break last year
- they still played him

My buddy who is a diehard Canucks fan says the rumour is tendinitis in one of his knees as he's been visibly slower the last two years.

I still think the Leafs biggest issue is that they continue to get big lumbering dman who play playoff style hockey but can't move the puck. Rielly has been the only competent puck mover they've had this era. Now they have Tanev who's great defensively and moves the puck decently, but I don't think it's a coincidence that offense becomes a major issue for the Leafs in the post season when no one can get the pucks to the forwards.

Not that my point totally absolves the big 4 of blame, but I think it's something that gets glossed over constantly.
So trade them G for Nylander if Behrens can take over.

Craig Button has the Jets beating the Avs in the 2nd round. He also has the Jets going all the way to the SCF and defeating the Lightning to win the Stanley Cup.

Very, very ambitious given they won't have Nikolaj Ehlers for the 1st round in all likelihood and Gabriel Vilardi is playing banged up. That's two of your top five scorers potentially not available/playing hurt against arguably the most physical team in the league in St. Louis.

I said it before I'll say it all first round: St. Louis is going to upset Winnipeg.

Yeah I picked them over Winnipeg. How is no one talking about Namestnikov as their 2C?

I mean great on him, but its a little late to truly believe that's not a bigger weakness at center than JTC was.

While I hate STL, their team game is made for the playoffs. The way to beat that team is going to be by skating them into the ground, and throwing their physical game back in their face shift after shift.

Any series again STL in any round will be war. They're the junk yard dog of this years playoffs.

What did they expect him to do with that lineup?

Develop young players, like he did in the AHL. Sounds like he either had a different approach at the NHL level, or all of their bitchy diva future stars drove him bat shit crazy lol.

Stories about screaming at players, and the team etc.

Guess who also had a hard lesson with that type of shit as a brand new NHL coach. Bednar..

It’s probably somewhere in between. It would be one thing if it was just Zegras but it’s also MacTavish. Rounding out their games doesn’t mean you have to turn them into plow horses. And there are some coaches who can accomplish this without sucking the joy out of life for the players. It made more sense to do it in season so they could see if the interim coach could get more out of them.

Imagine if that Tortorella ends up there. Same guy but with more past success.

That's true often in life.

If Torts coaches again in the NHL it needs to NOT be a young rebuilding team..

Ya'all will probably call me crazy for this, but I think he'd be perfect for the Avs if Bednar can't get this team going enough to beat Dallas.

Torts needs a roster he has to both respect, and push. Torts just wants to win, and doesn't have the patience anymore IMO.

Roy is the one I think needs a younger roster. As crazy as Roy is, he can work magic with young enigmatic players.

Definitely not on board with Tortorella. I think there’s a lot of fraudulence in his act. Can’t stand him. It can’t not be about him.

Quenneville has to enter the ecosystem at some point, doesn’t he?

Anaheim might be well suited to hire a college guy.

People shocked Cronin got fired?

The roster isn't a BAD one. It isn't amazing, but IMO they definitely should have competed for a playoff spot. Look at how good their goaltending was and they still weren't close.

There is too much young talent for them to be this bad. Either they are Buffalo 2.0 and all their young players stink, or they need the right guy to lead them and Cronin wasn't it.

That should fix the broken relationship between the locker room and the GM :sarcasm:
Drury isn't going anywhere, so if the players have a problem with the GM they should request a trade.

And frankly, Chris Kreider might be gone. Apparently he has been one of the main culprits in sulking.

Torts is the only coach I like as much as Roy.

I could see Q being a Babcock level mistake depending on the team.

IIRC Cronin was pretty high up there among the Athletic players poll of most hated coaches.

E. Yep:

One player didn’t even know Anaheim Ducks coach Greg Cronin’s name but picked him anyway: “Who is Anaheim’s coach?”

"I've heard from other players that he's not great to play for,” another player said. “They have a lot of decent skill that they should be a good team, but they're not."

The same is said of Ottawa, I hope they use Toronto as their breakout party lol.

We know full well what it's like to have a promising core fail.
