in a vacuum, 100%. however, our pipeline is already getting crowded, so the rationale makes more sense. just gotta hope the kids we chose pan out. very early on that front, but I'm encouraged thus far
I can follow that logic but my answer would be that they should be more selective with their contracts then. Like we didn't need to rush to sign Misiak to a deal, for example.

We'll see how it works out, not saying I'm smarter than them. Just that I preferred 34 and 50 to 27. Doesn't help when 50 is who I was interested in at 34 and he's also off to a crazy hot start haha.

I would not get super disappointed over 2 weekends of play……. Young players porpoise up and down quite a bit. And team construction, player use, etc.

You’re not wrong. But you can draft overseas players with a longer timeline to sign.

is this the kind of pick where the excitement gradually builds like Rinzel
Would be nice. I'm treating it the same way as Rinzel. Wasn't a guy I wanted, not someone who I had expectations of in their D+1 and D+2 seasons, but someone who won me over in time.

I still don't like the pick right now, but I'm willing to give him time to prove the scouting department right.

Rinzel and and Nolan Allen, in general, got crapped on by this board.....and both look pretty solid....Rinzel could turn into a real nugget of gold.

I didn't love the Boisvert pick either but if he can be a tenacious big man with some snarl and sneaky skill, he'll complement what we have here right now very well. He doesn't have to kill people, just has to be a bit of a prick and it seems like he has some of that in his game.

Encouraged to hear that he’s big into boxing at the draft

Having a middle six C who can be an absolute menace is needed to win. See Sam Bennett, Dave Bolland, Nic Roy, Gourde

So he beats goalies with a great shot ...probably Generational shot like Bedard except Bedard does not get open like that. In prime firing spot.

Players who can combine good size with offensive skills at NHL level of play are harder to find than most fans realize.

Don't forget Vlasic. What'd he get like... 16th in the prospect poll right before breaking out in 2022-23?

In general, with all due respect, I don't treat "HFHawks" consensus as meaning anything.

One can always second guess where someone was picked and what else is available at the time. I think there's some projection with this kid, but he's got some moxy and with Spellacy, we are starting to compliment the higher skilled Bedar/Nazar types who will need that on their lines.....I wouldn't mind seeing one of these types every draft to be honest......bring on McQueen, I say!

Not certain McQueen is what we need ; a bigger better shooting Kirby Dach . He doesnt sound like he has any sort of Edge , 6' 5" passive . Martrone is what we need , add to our 1st rder with other picks if need be !!

Not sure in Canada specifically but kids don’t learn how to hit until pretty late these days. Better for their longterm health but makes the bigger kids more of projects in that area. I think Martone will be that guy eventually, just might take time.

I would take Martone over McQueen too, but I'm if the Hawks are drafting 6th or something then I'm speculating Martone is already gone.

U14. Pretty crazy. I feel like I was 10-12 when we started body checking.

Boisvert has a pro shot...Combi e that size ,Physicaliry 2 way game and tgatblethal shot and there isa lot to like for ax 2C rile.

Probably needs to work on hisvpkay-maki g ..but as a powrr style 2C type with size and a greatcshot he could be very complementary as the Big C for the top 6 to balance tgecBedard type skills.

Remember.. as a 2C you do not expect a 109 points guy..you are hoping for a Tioews s like 28-32 goals + 35-40 assists guy with ax2 way game.
Very rare team gets 2 superstar big points centers.
But my point is hisxshotvis so superiority Moore's that he (Boscert( is a legit hope for a futurex2C...Vannot see Moorexasxactop six sokution.

Also cannot see Hawks with with 2 smalk skikked centers in Bedard and Nazarxas 2C and 2C= too small up the middle.

Nazarxas skilked winger...isvpk but not on same linevas Bedard unless the other winger on the line brings size and defebsive help. But Hossa ability types we do not have...yet.

Boisvert and Vanacker seem to slot in nicely on a future line 2. While Nazar and Moore would be wicked as a speedy treat on line 3 .

Not sure Vanacker projects out as a top 6 winger. We shall see

Also, Nazar has shown nothing to put his upside as a mere 3rd liner IMO nor has Boisvert play (Limited I remind you) shown himself to be a far greater option potentially down middle

Good problem to have right now having all these potential Cs in organization with top 9 potential. Some wont work out and others will move to wing of course still
