Big props to Slovakia for giving Canada all they can handle. Team USA will have to play the best game of their lives to beat Canada. Slovakia goalie was incredible.

Its always tough to watch a big under dog fight so hard and then lose.... that slovak team is 3rd best team in tournament imo.... unfortunate they wont get a medal.

With how this season has gone for us... ill cry if we get anything less
The tank job has been real in the OC, I’ll give you that, but the homer in me is really pulling for you to get the Detroit treatment & miss out.

My psyche cannot handle the abuse that a Bedard is capable of inflicting. Call me selfish.

Good game by the Slovaks. They played Canada close.

I suspect Canada will smoke USA though.
Yup I hate to say it, this is Canada's tourny to lose. Bedard is just on another planet against players his age.

And not even sure what the hell that slovakian D man was thinking in overtime shooting the puck to Bedard instead of gathering it and just skating with it he had all the time in the world too. Yikes.

Czechia beat Canada pretty soundly in prelims...That should be the final we shall see. I think its a toss up game.

I don’t want to see that.
Fine we’ll take Carlson michkov or fantilli and call it a day.

Granted fantilli hasn’t been overly impressive in this world juniors, but his NCAA #s are great.

Still don’t love drafting Russian players, but michkov is pretty special player.

The more I watch Carlsson the more I like him.

Yeah F*** that!!! LOL. We all know he's going to the Hawks. You guys will get the consolation prize of Fantilli or Mitchkov which isn't too bad either.
Haha unfortunately true :(

And ya fantilli michkov or carlsson(who seems to be the favored option on the ducks boards) would be great consolation prizes

To me, the Zellweger hype is super confounding.

He is the prototypical high-event, high-production, under sized D, that rarely translate well to the NHL game overall. He could prove me wrong completely, or just be a PP guy.

I like the guy as a PP specialist at the junior level, but I really don’t get the overall favoritism for him. Hockey Canada is a strange duck for sure.

Surely he’s a future PKer who will play on his off side then.

I was thinking that as well, but trying not to read too much into it. I wonder if he's trying to do too much because more scouts are watching, or if he feels he needs to amp up his individual skills because he's sharing the stage with Bedard.

We have Zellweger at home

I know this tournament isn't necessarily a reliable indicator of future success but it sure is more fun when your top draft picks are having an objectively great showing. When was the last time? Kempe? Schenn?

Depends on the definition of "top". Fagemo led the 2020 WJC in scoring altogether, with 13 points in 7 games.

I've never seen people here as happy with Fagemo et. al. for finding success as they are miserable for one roller coaster game by clarke

Hell when Turcotte was the most dominant all-situations force for the Americans (i'm not here to argue, the stats back it up) people were still grumpy

for a tourney we're not supposed to take a lot out of, people sure get upset when prospects don't have a run, and even when they do. This thread has been really strange.

Turcotte was a beast in the playoff rounds. Akil Thomas was clutch. Fagemo was great. Kaliyev was scoring. Faber and Anderson were tough dmen to beat.
Lots of Kings have had good showings.
None of it matters long term really its just a fun tournament to watch and you get a basic idea of the tools some of these players have.
