GDT: 2023 WC GROUP A: Finland versus USA

That should've been interference, you can't just hit two puckless players to create a breakaway. Doesn't matter though, USA has been better and deserves the lead. And with the tournament format it's difficult to care about the first few games

Kakko been our best forward today, forced DeSmith to make a great save on a chance where 90% of our forwards wouldn’t even had a shot on goal.

USA looks so much deadlier in the offensive zone and their skating is once again on another level compared to ours.
What is being left out so far in the thread convo so far is how desmith has made some key saves in this game.

I'd be inclined to give him the first star for the U.S team today.

He's been very good - that right toe save on Kakko was a momentum shifter for sure.

He absolutely is the first star.

USA has dominated periods 2 and 3 but it could've easily been 3-0 after one.

Eww, what a horrible game.

The loss didn't help either, but the quality of the game overall was terrible.

Btw, why is Sami Vatanen not on the roster? I don't like the lack of puck moving abilities and right handers on the blue line.

I'm very impressed with the US. It is nice to see they actually picked guys who came to play with the goal to win the gold and focusing on actually playing. Gg.

Oh, makes sense then. The man is made of glass sometimes unfortunately

Best player of the game for me. When USA started slow in the first he kept them in it, and then saved the few chances he had to.

But props to USA, they we're very clearly the better team than after like the first 10 minutes, absolutely deserved win for them.

Typical pattern: The US bringing a (mostly) no-name team to the tournament, being considered an underdog, and the performing great. Again.
