The Jays have made the playoffs two of the last three years and currently are in a playoff spot. They quickly turned a rebuilding team around which can be tough to do in baseball.

Definitely some flaws with management but trades aren’t one of them.

Vladdy’s splits are not as pronounced but he’s singlehandedly won games vs the O’s or kept the Jays in it vs them. Absolute bird killer especially at Camden. In fact he’s elite at every AL East ballpark except ours and Tampa’s :(
 
Acquiring De Jong must mean that Bichette is going to be out indefinitely.

Actually they would. Varsho is a hole at the plate.

To be honest I haven't looked at his defensive stats. Just going on prior experience of him as a Jays outfielder.

DRS doesn't automatically equal "games won".

I dont know where to find RISP stats for Teo vs Varsho.
 
Well, they just said on TV there is no other bat coming from the trade wire.

If so, its a massive failure.

Or maybe they didn't want to get pillaged for a marginal upgrade?

That would be an even more massive failure. The price has to make sense, and that part of the equation was completely ignored by your post.

That may be. But we've had 4 months of sample size from our hitters. They suck.

Barker just said this on TV. Orioles RISP - 3rd, Jays RISP 27th.

Gurriel has a below average bat this year and you're talking about him like he's big time slugger or something.
