Good news is that Ryu gave up zero hits! (bad news is he got injured again but doesn't sound serious)

Lol, what did he do/say?

I don't even remember specifically anymore. I think it had something to do with trying to make himself sound cool because his sport coat sort of matched what Madison Shipman was wearing for the Jays broadcast. It had some very strong Steve Buscemi "how do you do, fellow kids." vibes.

Plus it all goes hand in hand with his very forced sounding fake Don Cherry old-school "you punk kids with your stats and your modern takes and everyone knows sports attained perfection in 1973 so shut up" vibes.

His last few appearances on Tim and friends were so cringey.. literally just lamenting people can't give each other CTE for nothing in the NHL anymore. THIS IS WHAT YOU GET WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE GOONS PATROLLING THE ICE and it's just like some guy falling on his own and hitting his head on the end boards.

I used to think it was like a parody/performance thing he was doing. Like he adopted this ridiculously strident/aggressive/overbearing version of the curmudgeonly old-timer persona as a gag or in an attempt to get attention and ratings. But then I see him on twitter just randomly chiming in on discussions about headshots or someone using FIP to discuss the Blue Jays and he just seems to lose his mind on them. And then I think "oh shit, he actually believes what he's saying."

I also swear I remember an instance where he got into it a little with his co-anchor (might've been Evanka, might not have.) about judging pitchers by wins and he was borderline frothing at the mouth at the idea that you can't tell how good a guy is by his win total.

It's weird because he inhabits that classic uber-jock "nerds and wussies are ruining the game" niche when you know damn well that he was probably the dorky kid that would've been shaken down for his lunch money in school.

It reminds me of a guy that used to be on sports talk radio in Vancouver, Dave Pratt. He went to high school with my dad, who remembers him being a bit of a loner nerd, but when he was on the radio he was every wannabe-jock gatekeeper douchebag stereotype you can imagine.

Perfect impression. Like perfect. Call looked good though lol

Laz Diaz is probably the only umpire left who is willing to go back at it with a manager like that. I don't know exactly when but probably 15-20 years ago now MLB told umpires to not put on the show back at Managers like the old days. Umpires are taught to just stand there and take it.

Walk away and if they follow you the Crew Chief or the #2 will do the Pick and Roll to separate them and walk him back to the dugout. You can see Andy Fletcher try to get in there to separate them and says "Lets go Aaron" but Laz turns back.

If Laz just stood there and looked at Boone I bet he doesn't put on as much of a show. Boone just looks like a whiny little bitch. MLB doesn't like this stuff even if it is entertaining to fans.

Go look up the David Bell ejection from a few weeks ago. That is what how MLB wants those types things handled.

Kiermaier on 10 day IL due to the elbow laceration... didn't look that serious, but who knows...

the injuries are starting to pile up a bit now, this team was remarkably healthy thru the all star break.

I'm actually happy to see Kiermaier get 10 days off to rest. He's been banged up a bunch this year and his performance - both at the plate and in the field - has tailed off a bit after he was all-world for the first 50 or so games. I think the rest might do him well to set up for a big finish.

So Espinal's only use on this roster now is as the backup 3B to Chapman whenever he needs a day off. I'm guessing Schneider is sitting today because they don't trust his defense at 3B, and they're probably also rewarding Biggio for his huge game yesterday (plus he hits RHP well over a large sample) with another start today at 2B.

Also I think Clement should have been called up instead of Lukes. The team could still use another bat who hits LHP well even after the Schneider callup.

He needed stitches, so it makes sense that he'll need at least a few days to make sure he can hit and throw comfortably without having it open up in him again.

I don't think they can come back before the 10 days though, can they?

I mean this is likely retroactive to two days ago, but still.
No, he can't. The plus side is that even if it was going to take 3-4 more days for him to be ready to go, this just means they're giving him a few extra days to rest/heal and they can bring someone up to fill his roster spot in the meantime.

Well, the good thing is that Varsho can play good CF as well.
