i wouldn't say vladdy is awful. Awful by his standards. Right now he's just an average mlb player.
Springer is on one of the coldest streaks i have ever seen.

Yes, he can be a streaky player. Lots of guys are. If you go around baseball you won't find many guys who have an above-average OPS in all 6 months of a year.

He's been one of the very best players in baseball this year overall.

This is nonsense. It's a consolidated stat built on other 'standard' statistical performance measures and adjusted to display as relative to the league average. There's nothing about it that's not "real".

What does that even matter. His entire stat line indicates he was 55% better than the average hitter for the month of July. He got on base over 40% of the time, he had 4 home runs, 7 doubles, a triple, and scored 17 times. Saying it doesn't indicate a "real" stat line is just being deliberately obtuse because you know that it means he's been one of the best hitters of the month...
