If only this team could hit.

I think they said on the radio, if only they went .500 vs Orioles & Red Sox, they'd be leading the division.

Yeah, in the 6th inning they scored 3 runs and left the bases loaded......all without a hit.
Not that it changes anything but, watching the replay, I'm not entirely convinced they would have gotten Varsho. It was a broken bat dribbler and Mateo just sat back on it, didn't have a play at any other base, and then was trying to rush his throw when he fumbled it. I think with Varsho running it would have ended up being an infield hit anyway.

Also, Baltimore blew it when their pitchers lost the zone, but Vlad's AB against Rodriguez was one of the best of the season.

Oh yeah, I was just pointing out how much of a statistical oddity this was. Booting it that badly means automatic error though, regardless - even though it would have been very tough to get him (Varsho).

That was a great battle by Vladdy....

3 good ABs to get to 1st-3rd 1 out and then an awful AB from Springer.

Springer's upper body was absolutely flying open on his swings there. Ugly.

I'm not sure I've ever seen anything like Mountcastle vs. the Jays. It's absolutely nuts, and he'll go back to going 3-15 or whatever in the next series.

... and the Orioles have the exact same situation as the Jays in the 1st. 1st-3rd, 1 out. Let's see how their ABs compare.

Edit : and their #7 hitter has a great approach and a great AB and drives in a run. Argh.

Shows the difference between a good team and what the jays are.

Their 7/8/9 hitters are superior to our 3/4/5 in this situation. Very frustrating.
