The worry with Ohtani is that his contract is up after this season and he can become a free agent after next season. And historically marquee Japanese players have tended to favor specific markets (New York or stuff out west where the time difference to Japan is less)

So the Jays spend god knows what in prospect capital and then what? He walks in a year? Cause honestly, he'd be stupid not to test the market.

Anyone know what's going on with the Budweiser logo during the Jays broadcasts? I noticed it yesterday and today as well in studio. It just says "weiser".

Yes I'm aware of the "Bud Light" boycott (lets not discuss that part of it), but I didn't think it would affect the other brand "Budweiser" of being affected on TV as a major sponsor at a company such as Rogers.

Apparently it's a marketing ploy. There's a motto making the rounds somewhere that's something like "Baseball's not the same without buds" and taking the "bud" out of budweiser seems to be an extension of that.

I was confused at first too, but it makes more sense than this being somehow related to the bud lite controversy/boycott. Because a company would have to be daft to think that visibly and obviously doing this to their name and logo is a more sensible solution than perhaps just quietly not advertising until the firestorm dies down.

I think it's been like this for... maybe a week?

Ah, that would explain it...

pretty dumb marketing gimmick if you ask me... yeah i didnt think it was anything to do with the boycott, but i thought they might be trying to lose the "bud" lol...
 
Hopefully Bassitt can give you at least one more inning with the mid to bottom of the lineup coming up.

Genesis should be able yo go again tonight throwing only 14 pitches last night. Mayza and Swanson didn’t go last night so they should be good too. If all goes well, they can finish the game off if Bassist can give you 6.
