Don't care so much about win-loss record as I do the run differential. Right now it's just not good enough. This doesn't feel like a great team capable of winning a world series.
Well, the win-loss record is a direct result of the poor run production.

It seems that they require a near perfect pitching performance from the starters thru the bullpen, because they usually can't score more than 2-3 runs per game. The odd time they manage more than that its still not a lot.

And they'll lose again because they can't score more than 2-3 runs a game.
I thought offense was the jays biggest strength this year. If we had the 2021 offense combined with this year’s defense we win the WS.

So far this year,

The Defense /fielding is adequate and consistent. What you see is what you get and you can expect solid reliability and efficacy from this team on defense.

The offense/batting, the bullpen(Except closer Jordan romano) and the starting pitching are up and down. Scoring 20 runs one game and struggling to put men/hitters on base the next. Same thing for the pitching, we get a great performance from gausman and a letdown game from manoah the next. Same thing for the relief pitchers.

At least kikuchi and berrios are much better than last year.

People calling Schneider the same as Montoyo have very short memories because holy f*** it’s not even close.

Cimber’s peripherals are poor and were tracking for something like this to happen and he should have been nowhere near high leverage but Schneider is no different than every other manager in the history of sports in giving too much rope to a veteran who has performed well for him in the past.

Even Buck right now is passively calling out Schneider for not letting Francis start that 8th inning

Ohh Montoyo was 100% worse all day everyday 24/7/365.

But I'm just saying that lately Schneider has been galaxy brain managing and seems to be way in over his head at times.

I think most of what Schneider/Mattingly/Walker are doing is pretty sound but I’d agree that at times they’re over managing/over thinking the bullpen usage.

Unfortunately it’s because they just aren’t that team. I was super excited about this team coming into the season but seeing it on the field tells a very story. They are not good enough. Vlad having no power and Manoah being a pile of garbage this season really hurt.

Losing to this twins team two games in a row is brutal. Springer ending the game on a double play is about par for the season

All of you who are fighting and bitching right now: Knock it off.

Everyone who has been involved in the last couple of pages of ridiculousness is in the process of being banned from the thread for a day or two to cool off and keep things civil here for a bit. Other sanctions are certainly possible based on the severity of your post(s).

If you were in on this and nothing happens to you, consider yourself lucky. Because today is just about the most pathetic display I've seen on here in the 10+ years I've been around these threads.

Some say that Managers can't affect the outcome of a game much, except how they handle the bullpen...

I think the last manager they had that handled a bullpen well was Gibby.

I am really starting to sour on John Montoyo/Charlie Schneider.
I’ve said it before I think he’s gone by the all star break. It’s not all on him but there’s way too much money being spent for these results

I’m not on the Schneider hate wagon or anything but his management of the bullpen s frustrating at times. Francis was going pretty good and is stretched out for 80 pitches and can get strike outs so he’s pulled at 30’pitches for a soft throwing extreme contact pitcher who’s having a rough season? Sheer bolchevism
It’s happening far too often, Schneider is just awful

I think it's pretty close personally. The offensive lineup friday was puzzling.

Alright, I think that's handled most of what needed to be.

Now because I don't really want a glut of PMs asking me about specifics and individual actions, I can say the following within bounds of the site rules on not discussing moderation specifics publicly:

No, it's not acceptable to attack other people. But it's equally unacceptable to respond in kind.

It is Ok to question other peoples' views or ideas if you do it within bounds, and I accept that people will lose their tempers from time to time (I'm guilty of that myself) but what we just had was like 2 solid pages of people being routinely awful either in direct deed or in at least the choice to continue to antagonize the opposition. That someone else started it or that you were attacked and are "only" defending your honor is not a viable excuse.

I get that this is a tense time and people are on edge. I also get that there's a bit of frustration over the fact that it feels like some people only show up when they want to vent or express anger. Like it or not there's a sense of community and "deservedness" that comes with being here. Posters that are regular participants all the time, win or lose, will likely get more latitude from regulars when they get angry or frustrated. But showing up only or mostly in negative situations to spew invectives or rant about other people being indoctrinated on only tolerating one viewpoint is obviously going to cause increased friction.

For the foreseeable future there will likely be a harder line stance on this sort of stuff until people learn to calm the hell down in multiple regards. Because after like 3 days of Bass nonsense and now this I can't be babysitting things on a constant basis like this.

If anyone has any problems with moderating actions you're more than welcome to file a report via the "contact us" link at the bottom of most pages or linked here:

Those messages are overseen by site administration.

If anyone needs to speak to me in particular about this you can send a PM. But forewarned that though I am willing to assist people who are concerned or unclear about something, I will not tolerate abuse in the process. I know my choices may not be popular but that will not excuse being the target of angry retorts complaining about being silenced or freedom of speech or whatnot.

Thankfully after tomorrow morning/afternoon's game the team has a day off on Monday so hopefully a couple of days for everyone to chill the hell out will do some good.

Agreed. Not that I'm without blame but it's really seemed extra aggressive the last few.

Francis should NOT have started the 8th. He should have been brought in an inning earlier so that our higher leverage arm pitches the 8th instead of the 4th.
