I wasn’t a fan of the signing because I thought he would struggle in a smaller ballpark and playing in the AL east.

So far I am wrong
That was a pretty reasonable view, for sure. I would say I was slightly negative on it. I liked it because he's a good pitcher who clearly improved the team, but I also thought there were other guys who either had higher ceilings or signed for better value. Looks great so far, though!

I'm more interested in the "worst signing ever!" and "this team can't make the playoffs with this rotation!" type comments based on a single start.

I really liked Stripling last year and Bassitt seemed like a pretty lateral move at like triple the $ commitment.

Whoops!
Stripling did great last year but I didn't think he could sustain it. Just doesn't have the stuff.

It's too bad Manoah has been awful. Gausman and Bassitt have been fantastic. Berrios has been good as a 4 and Kikicuhi as a five.

I didn’t think Stripling could sustain a 3.00 ERA but I thought he was a good bet to throw 150 innings at 3.50 or 3.80 as a #4 starter and I really didn’t think Bassitt was a good bet to do a whole lot better than that especially - as you say - coming to the tougher AL East.

Big day today. Finally get to take my kids to their first Jays game :)

Probably won’t see much for the actual game  but I’m excited to share the experience with them.

Also excited to see the renos

You've opened the door, Bert: If the Jays lose it's squarely on your kids being there. :sarcasm:

Not trying to fat shame but do think Kirk could be a perennial all star if he put more effort in the gym. His eye at the plate is great but his lack of upper body strength saps his power potential. Could hit .300 with 20+ hr (and earn himself a massive payday) if he put the work In.

Yimi Garcia shouldn't be getting high leverage innings right now. You have a rested pen and you waste it using this bum
