Wonder if he is going in as a Jay. Thought he was a slam dunk Brave going in with the WS and most games played in Atlanta than any other franchise.

But he almost doubled his WAR with the Jays vs Atlanta. Didn’t realize McGriff was so good with us.

Jays: 19.4 WAR in 578 games
Braves: 11.1 WAR in 636 games
Tampa: 9.0 WAR in 577 games

Could combine Tampa and Atlanta WAR and it barely outdoes the Jays. 20.1 vs 19.4

But too bad he didn’t have a better career with the Rays. He is from Tampa Bay. I’m sure he would prefer to go in as a Ray being the first Ray ever in the Hall and born in Tampa
He's going in with no logo.

I must have missed that. But I have a feeling that was announce months ago and it slipped my mind.

In this instance, probably makes a lot sense to go with no logo. But as a player, I feel like I would want to go in with a logo as opposed to no logo.

Yeah, in think he and Rolen both announced their decisions shortly after they got in.

McGriff is a bit of a weird case in that he had an equal amount of time spent with three teams, so no I think it makes a ton of sense to not pick one. He had his best years in Toronto, won a championship in Atlanta, and was one of the first stars in Tampa Bay. There are arguments each way, but I think he made the obvious choice.

Yup McGriff was one of the rare cases of actually being a legit no logo HOFer. He still could've gone with any of them (starting with the Jays, winning with the Braves, going to his hometown Rays) and I wouldn't have thought of the choice as a slight against the others.

How much longer do you start with Belt?

He sucks now but the Jays signed him because his lefty bat is supposed to benefit from the new dimensions. I can’t see them giving up on him anytime soon until he has had a large sample of at bats in Toronto.

First new team in his career, in a new country with all games on the road, he should adjust in time. I think he has a long leash - will get the entire month of April especially at home. If he shows no signs of improvement he might take a step back into a split at DH in late May in hopes he can become himself again. If not, then June and July will be the time to look for upgrades or maybe call up Barger or Horwitz.

I get that everyone's excited about the new park stuff, but we should be introducing the team, not doing a sales pitch as part of our home opener.
