I’m almost more worried about finishing as the 2nd wildcard than I am missing the playoffs at this point.
Obviously missing the playoffs would be the worse option but the cards are really stacked in our favour with how many time the AL east teams have to play each other. And the Twins are a much much easier match up in a 3 game series than the Ray will be

Jays aren't really in a position to do that. And I wouldn't say the Twins are much easier than the Rays considering Lopez and Gray will go in the first two games and they've had the 4th best offense in the last 30 days

Opponent shouldn't matter. Just get in

I’m not in any way the team should try to set up their opponent. Win every game they can and let the chips fall wherever they do.
But personally I would prefer that series be in Minnesota not Tampa.

Maybe that is just PTSD from so many years of misery at the Trop

We've never had the pitching like this year though.

If they can be smart about scoring some runs, and dont f#!@k up on the bases, who knows...

Season series is tied 4-4 now, so it's one AL East team we havent completely sucked against.

Austin Martin finally looking like a legit prospect. .812 OPS with 7 HRs which is the same amount he had in 2021 and 2022 combined. First season in his minors career with a slugging north of .400.

Still turning 25 before next season, and is playing 2B and LF because the defensive concerns are still there but looks to be a major league at some point soon.

Gunnar Hoglund too. Solid numbers in A+. 1.42 ERA with 14 Ks and 2 walks in 12 innings. Got promoted to AA and had 1 start. Turning 24 in December.

I think a legit prospect is probably pushing it a little bit with Martin. He is passable in AAA this season. His ceiling is probably still a fringe bat with questionable defense in the majors. That isn't a mix that usually leads to a long career in the MLB.

Nice to see Martin at least showing something, but a 112 wRC+ doesn't exactly inspire confidence that he'll be anything other than a utility guy. In terms of current Jays prospects, he's like... Rafael Lantigua, but worse at everything.
