It would be nice to because Texas seems like the easiest team for the Jays to catch since they play each other, but not a big deal as long as the Jays win.I guess we’re hoping for a Houston sweep now, right?

Yeah, I should have just waited for the standings to update instead of trying to use my brain on the weekend.1.5 back of Seattle

I'm fine with Varsho as long as the elite defense remains. If that falls off, we have an issue.Great game by Biggio. They got a Bison bump from Horwitz. Deja vu from Varsho. Just not a good hitter this season.
Dumb decision. Whit/KK need to be sitting.
Before the video begins Jamie said they were told the reason Davis wasn't in the lineup was due to matchups.I feel dumb but where exactly does Jamie report that? Because I don’t think the analytics are pointing to benching Davis.
Lot of people complaining about analytics in that thread but ROS projections currently have Davis as the 5th best (and Horwitz as the 6th best) hitter(s) on the team…
He doesn't say anything about it in that clip, and having watched it live, I'm 95% sure just before that clip he suggested analytics as a potential reason Schneider may have been on the bench. I'm pretty sure he wasn't actually reporting anything.I feel dumb but where exactly does Jamie report that? Because I don’t think the analytics are pointing to benching Davis.

Using analytics to disprove that Davis is the Jays hottest hitter right now with his .390 batting average with at least one hit in 9 games previous to today is laughable. It affirms what people are saying that you shouldn’t use only analytics to determine your lineup.I feel dumb but where exactly does Jamie report that? Projections don't tell you who the hottest hitter is.Using analytics to disprove that Davis is the Jays hottest hitter right now with his .390 batting average with at least one hit in 9 games previous to today is laughable. They should definitely find a spot for Davis in the lineup until he cools down. When a hitter is on a heater keep putting his name in the lineup card. Every game is almost a must win at this point so you got go with who is delivering.Whit and Biggio are two notable examples on the team that struggle against power pitchers so not sure if that idea plays still. I don’t know the reasoning behind keeping him on the bench but I imagine it’s something like giving Whit a starter’s load and getting Biggio in for lefty/righty + defence. Still wild they can’t find a spot for Davis.

Biggio gets unnecessary criticism. He had an awful start to the year but he's done very well since. Whit has struggled recently and doesn't add much in terms of OBP or power. Schneider is a big improvement over Whit in terms of power that is something the Jays have struggled with this year.I'm hoping more of Merrifield's playing time goes to Schneider going forward. That would have definitely made them better tonight and I agree it probably should have happened with the way Merrifield has been hitting lately.
The weird part is the other option people would have pushed for before the game would have been Biggio, and considering the game he had today, the team almost definitely loses that one if you swap Schneider in for Biggio.
Oops. Never mind. We actually agree on something lol.Is that what you got from my post? Because even the projections suggest he should be starting every day.
My point is that the analytics don’t say to bench Davis.
