Yup. And people are suicidal because we passed on a small, average speed, perimeter forward who won't be here for at least 3 years. They all know Michkov better than Bobrov though who's father works for Michkov's parent team.
Michkov, the best thing since sliced bread, the generational kid who clearly has no red flag whatsoever fell down to pick 7, even below another Russian.

Yet the Church of Michkov can't wrap their head around it, therefore everyone else is an idiot.

I mean Michkov was in my top 3 and I would've liked him but clearly if 6 teams pass on a generational talent, including one who has a direct connection with his KHL team, there's a f***ing reason behind it.

Majority of teams won't be tanking this year.

Washington, Calgary, Buffalo, Ottawa, Vancouver, Pittsburgh all have playoff aspirations. Columbus should improve too.

Anaheim, Chicago, San Jose, Arizona, Philadelphia should be among bottom 5 teams still.

We're where Detroit is. Not terrible, but not competitive enough to be outside of top 10.
Washington, Calgary and Pittsburgh will have playoff aspirations but they may fall out of contention fast. Ottawa needs a goaltender to guarantee them being contender.
The tanking I am looking at are teams that are within range of a playoff spot near the trade deadline and their GM's throw in the towel and make no moves. If 3 or 4 teams do that like last season Habs could be outside the top 10.

So no trades yet tonight? I haven't been watching since the Habs picked and have only been reading reactions to this Habs pick all over the internet since.

Pretty much my feeling.

This franchise has lacked an offensive scoring superstar since like one season of Turgeon. And we turned our back on multiple players who could very well bet that player for a defenseman, who while very good, isn't going to be an offensive powerhouse either.

So basically we picked, at best, an incredible #2.

It's disingenuous to say Reinbacher is going to be, at best, a #2 and then turn around saying we passed on "multiple" potential scoring superstars. We passed on one who has that kind of potential.

The Detroit comparison is even more apt if Reinbacher becomes Seider-lite. Sorry for the pessimism (I am a Habs fan afterall), but I just imagine us being a mediocre team à la Detroit for the next 5 years. I think we should have swung for the fences and gone after a potential game-breaker.

Don't need a 2024 defenceman, whether you think it's a deep draft or not. Way too far down the line compared to our core and absolutely no way of knowing who will be available, how they'll progress over the next year, or where the Habs will be picking. Just nonsense, but feel free to post your top-30 list for next year and we'll see how it compares. We're very obviously building around our current elite talent.
Well they drafted Slafkovsky after looking at the size available in this draft and said we aren’t likely going to get a player with his size and profile next year so…
