How would this team do in the tournament and how would they do against Canada's A team?
What about Dragicevic? Would have liked to seen him get a camp invite

Trust me is such an odd expression by a fan on a hockeyboard. Trust is not relevant. You have no inside knowledge. You are a fan expressing your opinion.
Who made you forum police ?

Ducky

Your opinion matters as much as mine. Go back to your basement

Come on , this team would have a hard time qualifying for a medal. Never mind even competing. Just like the U17 tournament team Canada cannot win gold.
If you knew anything about the U17’s you’d know exactly why the USA dominates that tournament.

I think by the end of camp it looks like this:

Othmann-Wright-Guenther
Roy-Stankoven-Bedard
Bolduc-Fantilli-Ostapchuk
Kidney-Dean-Gaucher
Beck

Korchinski-Allan
Zellweger-Matier
Lambos-Del Mastro
Nause

Goalies who knows

If Clarke comes, I'm not sure how the D pairings look considering a couple of them play the best when they're moving the puck around (Clarke, Zellweger, Korchinski). Korchinski and Allan are most likely gonna be stuck to each other for a while, and Zellweger-Matier makes a ton of sense with their handness, size, and Hockey Canada experience. That leaves the question who does Clarke play with, and which combos get the most ice time? Maybe something like this, factoring in their past with the program, age, and abilities:
Zellweger-Matier
Del Mastro-Clarke
Korchinski-Allan
Lambos

Pronman wrote about his projected lineup today:

Othmann Wright Guenther
Fantilli Bedard Roy
Bolduc Stankoven Kidney
Ostapchuk Gaucher Dean
Dach

Lambos Zellweger
Korchinski Del Mastro
Allan Clarke
Samson

Gaudreau
Milic
Rousseau

I wonder if the guy that thinks Fantilli is American is going to think Newfoundland is still part of the United Kingdom and wonder why Zach Dean is playing for Canada

Othmann - Wright - Bedard
Fantilli - Stankoven - Guenther (Top 6 is locked IMO)
Bolduc - Beck - Roy (Shutdown line, in the same vein as Roy - Grieg - Dufour)
Ostapchuk - Dean - Gaucher (Energy line)
Is top6 locked even if W.Johnston will go ?

Oh yea ?? Splitting Canada in 3

That’s my point !!! Get it !!!

Posters here always asking how a B Canada team would do !!! They wouldn’t do to well

Get it

Our B team wouldn't win gold, but they would be quite competitive. There's certainly no harm in asking the question of what they would look like just for fun.

With the number of players absent from our summer team, we essentially did see a B side and it turned out that they were still devastatingly good.

I actually think the B team could win gold... not saying a lock or it'd be a 2005 type run but it'd be a damn good team!

It totally has nothing to do with the fact that the US team is together for months before the tournament - so they have had time to build chemistry and practice together.

even if Canada were to send their best possible team - they would be at a distinct disadvantage at the U17‘s.

Xanada is better suited to get as many players int he program as possible - because it’s always going to be extremely difficult to compete against the USDP

There's no clear evidence that playing together helps, I have never heard of sports bettor who even consider this as any weight in match evaluation. The basic fundamental is the quality of lineup.

US hockey is tough because they have the most registered hockey players in the world. Their 2015 or later drafted players have more points in the NHL than any other country's similar players.

I wish all the best for team Canada, but being arrogant is always lame. Canada B could win the cup, but it would be unlikely, probably like 5-7%. Hell, Finland B could also win the championship lol.

You'd have to be pretty dense to argue that a team together all year doesn't have a leg up on teams thrown together the day of the tournament .

Have you ever played the game of hockey? A team playing together for a substantial period of time absolutely is better than a team of players thrown together in A week or two.

And that’s without considering that the team that has played together for months against older competition in NCAA programs and USHL teams is JUST as skilled as Canada‘s most skilled players.

There is good reason the US have historically wiped the floors in the tournaments they send their NDP teams to.

The U20‘s are so competitive because the NDP kids are strewn out over the country at different NCAA programs and they’re back at a level playing field against Canada.

If you can’t see that then you aren’t looking hard enough.

Maybe it is an aspect that I'm under-appreciating.

I'm sure that I am still closer to the truth than the mainstream idea that it is somehow a huge factor.

It doesn't take a year to get to know your linemates. You practice with them a week and you're fine. They actually even change lineups during games in the highest competition (NHL).

Let’s say worst case scenario we don’t get loaned Wright, Guenther, or even Clarke.

What four lines are you rolling!?

Post them below I’m curious!

Team USA is together playing in August, and for the most part the season prior,, Canada teams are announced a week before the tournament starts, and players fly in from around the country and play right away without having played with any of their teammates.

You are definitely, without a single doubt, under-appreciating it, to a gigantic degree.

Have an NHL team start the regular season without a training camp, see how that goes.

There is a reason that every single World Junior team has 2/3+ weeks worth of practices and scrimmages prior to the tournament starting.

Brandt Clarke never made into Team Canada, I think will be same for this year.

Othmann Stankoven Bedard

Kidney Dean Greene

Dumais, Schaefer

Del Mastro Zellweger
Korchinski Matier
Allan Lambos
Samson, Nause

Goaltenders

Looking at the camp roster again, Clarke looks like the most critical of the three potential NHL adds.

It is a HUGE factor. Canada had Connor Bedard in the summer tournament. We knew he had to be on the PP, but absolutely ZERO idea how to best utilize him. Regina, on the other hand, knows exactly where he fits in on the man advantage. When you get to a tournament, is it better to know all the roles for your players or to try to figure out out on the fly?
