Not necessarily. First round contracts don't really provide any savings against FA contracts at those positions, especially when you consider the opportunity cost of not getting savings at more valuable positions.

That's just not true.

The top 7 ILB contracts all pay more per year than what Campbell is projected to get over the total of his contract:

I'm a PSU season ticket holder, no thanks...

He has elite length, plus athletic ability, but he has zero balls skills (think worse than Antoine Winfield). So many balls hit him right in the hands and he couldn't catch to save his life. He also gets hurt A LOT.
