FLA 15 overall for Chariot (1/4 season)

If this happens, will go down as one of the worst trades of all time. It would almost be a guarantee we hit on that pick as well lol, as it would almost be punishment for their GM being so stupid

I’d expect WAS to pass Flo, eventually.

Was most probably will stop trying, at some point, to focus so much on OV’s goals to try and win some games.

Washington passed Florida.

With Panthers regulation loss and Caps win, Washington jumps ahead of Florida.

Florida gets knocked down 2 spots as both Caps ans Avs pass them.

Florida now sits at 20th overall. Habs are at 21st.

___________

Yotes and Philly in OT

You guys are stressing too much about the good teams around us like Calgary St. Louis Minnesota…those teams will pass us eventually

What’s more interesting is seeing the panthers lose. That’s the main thing I’m tracking and hoping for. Our pick will be top 10 but if floridas can be top 15…wow!

Minnesota and Calgary have already passed us. It's not "eventually" for those two. It's already done.

Blues are 3 pts back.

No one's stressing by the way. We're all just interested in the day-to-day standings.

____________

Arizona wins in OT.

They get within 6 pts of Habs.
Philly with the loser point get within 3 pts.

Arizona wins in OT, so they move to within 6 pts of Montreal. Flyers pick up 1 pt to move to within 3 pts.

CBJ have been playing better, so it's entirely possible bottom 4 teams will all be Western teams. Anaheim, Chicago, Arizona & SJS.

Currently, we hold picks #12 (our own) & #13 (Florida).

PERFECT night for the tank. Every result went our way and even Philly and Arizona was a 3 pts game (with the weaker team IMO grabbing the extra pt). Blues getting only a point is a non factor as they will pass us no matter what.

If anyone is stressing it’s you. You post daily updates on who needs to win and lose. And give up on Arizona catching us. It ain’t happening
No one is asking you to read this thread. And Arizona is only 6 pts back with games in hand. And they are about equal in talent to Montreal (when Guenther gets back). They can catch the Habs.

Only the last 12 teams are eligible for the lottery, right ? The 13th last will definitely pick 13th, i.e. zero chance to pick 1st nor 2nd.

All 16 are eligible but they can only move up 10 spots so only the last 11 can win the 1st overall pick.

We also want the Blues to pass Florida ;)

Has anyone checked up on FLA fans and how they’re coping with us owning their 1st?

Friendly reminder that FLA has the toughest remaining schedule in the league (Habs 6th) as was posted 2 weeks ago in this thread.

Based in advance stats it looks like they deserved better…nonetheless it could get ugly for them too. Their defence and bottom 6 are questionable.

I won't get too far ahead of myself and I'll go on with the expectations that Florida will get things going but...just the thought that Ben Chiarot could return a top 10 pick in this loaded draft...

laughing-lol.gif

Plenty of time for them to get things going. But it's fun seeing them in their current spot.

Last year, Buffalo had Vegas' 1st from the Eichel trade. Vegas was supposed to make the playoffs, but they ended up missing them. And Sabres ended up having the 16th overall pick (as well as their own pick at 9th), when they were expecting to have one in the 20's. It would be great for the Habs to have that with the Panthers.

The funny part is that Vegas at least acquired Eichel when he still had 5 years left on his deal at the time of the trade, while Florida got 30 games out of Chiarot.

Even if they don't miss the play-offs, it's looking increasingly likely they will be a wild card team.. Boston and Toronto have taken such big leads and Tampa Bay is finally getting healthy, once Vasy returns to form, it's lights out.

So to go from projecting a pick in the late 20s/30s.. we can confidently say that worst case scenario with the Panthers pick is mid to early 20s. Huge win even that.
