Player driven league, coaches don’t matter much, Phil Jackson isn’t good he just got lucky to be blessed with MJ/Pippen and Shaq/Kobe. My column:

Mazzulla is having a bad series. Look, at this shit. Marcus knew what they needed to do, so where was the coach?

I don’t think Mazzulla is telling them to run a half court offense. All that article says to me is that the players know what they need to do to win and aren’t doing it

I am very happy to blame both the coach and the players, but I put more on Mazzulla because I think he was the difference in games 1 and 4 and an NBA coach should never be the difference in a loss for all the reasons you've laid out the last week about how coaches in this league shouldn't matter that much.

In the playoffs defense is way more important than offense. The last 10 years there's been 2 teams that have won a Championship while not being top 5 in opponents ppg in the playoffs. The Warriors and the Spurs, and those teams were really close to being top 5. Celtics right now are 9th and way closer to the Kings in 13th than they are 5th. Udoka had almost the same roster making teams fight just to score 100 points. Who else can you blame but the head coach for the decline on defense?

The only problem I have with this, and Mazzulla isn’t good, is that the core problems have been here for Stevens, Udoka and Mazzulla

The players? I don't think Mazzulla is telling them to not play defense.

Even if you want to put all the blame solely on Mazzulla, it's not his fault he was thrown into a role he wasn't ready for. That was Steven's and management that made that call

Stevens deserves blame as well. He chose his guy instead of one of the coaches Udoka brought with him who were more experienced or someone like Frank Vogel. Mazzulla is still responsible for what's being run out there though. They just don't look like a well coached team, there's a lack of adjustments where Philly have just needed to run Harden and Embiid in the pick and roll to get a easy look and he can't even manage end of game situations well like any coach should be able to.

I also think he is not using bench well. How does Pritchard not play if you should be running up tempo. Also he is a pest on d.

These issues we're pointing out have been present for years, but a) the core of this team is STILL incredibly young, so growing pains should have been part of the process just as they have been while b) we should have seen growth this year, not regression.

They're in a much worse spot now as a group than they were a year ago. The defense is non-existent, but it carried them last year as they had issues on the offensive side.

Mazzulla is in over his head. He got thrust into a role he wasn't ready for and he needed a veteran coach on his staff to lean on. I think Stevens did an amazing job filling out this roster, I really do. But he dropped the ball with the coaching staff. I get it, he was in a bad position at a bad point in the off-season, but someone needed to be added at some point this year.

I mean, there is some pretty basic shit Mazzulla has been getting wrong all year that continues to kill them. Merely calling timeouts before final possessions so you can get your best shooters in the game is coaching 101 shit. Instead we're gonna lose in round f***ing 2 because Marcus Smart takes most of our biggest shots.

Agreed. Put Payton in over White who has been atrocious. Get that energy and pest defense from a kid who thrives on it. Light a match. Because right now the fuse isn't lighting and Mazzulq has consistently misused his bench all f***ing year.

Jaylen making all nba wasn't much of a doubt. It's if ownership want to pay two supermax contracts and Jaylen wants to stay. At least it won't be a situation that drags on, he either signs it or is getting traded.

100% chance they give it to him and 100% chance he signs it.

Doesn't mean they can't move him eventually.
