If you see Musty as a high-end NHLer, who can lean on his scoring and offensive gifts to carry the day, then you have a point. He dominated the CHL, and now has to waste a year where he could be learning how to dominate the AHL.

But, if you see him as a guy who will contribute but also needs to improve some of his weaknesses, then I must differ. Those deficiencies can be ironed out in the CHL, with the goal of him making the AHL as a more well-rounded player next season.
I saw Musty as the former. Nothing about his play made me think the latter was a possibility. I fear he will be another labanc now.

And it's not just the competition in the chl, it's the coaching and the fact the clearly doesn't want to be in Sudbury. Low chance he comes to camp next year markedly better if this is his year.

I'd love to be wrong and will happily eat some musty crow if I am. I just had hopes he could be a 1st line winger and that seems to be a fleeting reality.

But Elite Prospects dot com named him the 15th best prospect in the world. Surely the experts who never played the game and do their “scouting” by watching 480p streams can’t be wrong.

EK also lost a year, it's taken him a little longer. But he's a solid player today. The key for Musty is to do it on his own. He needs to put in work outside the team he's on and start working on the mental (IQ) part of the game

I like to believe a 19 year old's career isn't over just because he missed 10 games of the OHL season
