I think the consensus is that nobody knows what Frederic is. I'm looking forward to finding out. My hopes are not high.

You think so? 5yrs would take him to 31yrs old whereas 8yrs would be 34yrs old. We see more and more players being productive into their mid to late 30's

It's a pointless argument anyway, the main reason Hagel was as expensive as he was is cause he had 2 full years left at 1.5mil AAV after the season he was traded AND was still an RFA after that deal expired. Debrusk would never go for a similar package with one year left til UFA status at 4mil.

Two "forgettable" prospects - one of which just scored 20 goals and two "late" firsts the first of which was 19 overall and used on Oliver Moore. I like Jake too but slow the roll

Yeah forgettable is definitely too strong for Raddysh my bad. Do you think Tampa would trade Hagel back for the same package? I'm guessing they wouldn't.
Doubtful. They're both comparable in style and stats. I can't see DeBrusk taking less than 6 unless he's ok with taking a discount to stay with Boston.
Lucic is going to be good for Fredrick
Debrusk's point totals this year if you project it over 82 games : 35 G, 29 A, 64P
Hagel in 81 games this year: 30G, 34A, 64P
Debrusk also has much better defensive metrics. I think this deal sets Debrusk's floor, not lowers it.

what narrative, they still lost basically 3 top 6 players. Did they not? Krejci, Bergeron, and Bertuzzi, and yeah he didnt play the full year but he certainly is going to be better than JVR. Hall would have been a second liner on most teams, they just had a stacked squad that is now taking the hits for it. Marchand is also one year closer to retirement on surgical repaired hips. He slowed way down by end of year and you had to have seen his stops, starts and curls which was his biggest asset affected. He has also lost his centerman for the last decade and a half. Definitely something to keep an eye on.
"Zacha and Coyle played two games as top 6 centers in the playoffs and the won they are going to be good replacements" all of a sudden. Heard that narrative floated around too with basically little sample size. The offensive depth on this team is now in question. You have a player who has been tried as a top 6 center briefly before being replaced, and a player that is about to start his first full year as a center for them as well. Then you need at least one of the newbies/rookie to handle top 6 role. That's a lot to ask for and they cant absorb failures really.
I am hopeful these guys can do it, but I wouldnt put any money on all of it working out.

I am very leery of Debrusk. He may have rescinded his trade request, but they literally had to put him on the top line with two of the very best players to do it. If he struggles with either Coyle or Zacha as his center he may want to leave via FA. Could also end up fine, but I am sure you have to take this into consideration when negotiating and especially if we wants a good chunk. of change
