He’s also in line in age with most of the core that is gone or 2/4 years from leaving. Signing him long term is crazy when you see the upcoming free agent centers and factoring what his ask will likely be while being a one sided hockey player on the wrong side of 30 and wasting assets for 1/2 years of Mark Scheifele is foolish to put it nicely.

Huh ? The list is short if you’re talking 1C or even 2C cause we won’t be offer sheeting RFA’s and Matthews won’t hit open market..

I agree Scheifele is on the wrong side of 30 he’ll actually be 31 on his next contract which too me doesn’t mean he’s getting a crazy contract either considering it‘s well known his defensive game needs to improve I’d even use Kadri as an example here obviously he’ll get a bit more then him but doubt he’ll see 9 mil cap hit ..

Would I take Lindholm first ? obviously yes but depending how things play out with the cost to acquire or if it’s actually just a free agent signing next year I wouldn’t turn a cheek to Scheifele.
When you see how weak that position is we need a decent stop gap until this void is filled then worry about his contract after ya can’t just waste year’s off the next core if the plan is to retool on the go which seems like what the Bruins have always done.

This article accuses much without evidence. It also can be putting spin on one side in order to create drama.

Wheeler has a right to be mad if the coach plays a rookie over him in the lineup. Schiefele has a right to be mad that he has to play with a rookie on the first line whom he does not like his style of play.

I've read other articles saying Laine has quite the ego and overinflated self image. Him demanding spots and types of play over long time NHL vets are going to rub players the wrong way and sour the locker room on him.

My point is take this with a grain of salt.

This part is hard to believe

He (Wheeler) was also not enthusiastic that Laine’s popularity could possibly rival that of Teemu Selanne, who had played with the previous incarnation of the Winnipeg Jets.

I mean come on. Even if Wheeler is a bit of a whatever, I can't see something like that influencing him regarding, well, anything to do with the Jets or Laine.

Interesting tool to play with. Points are adjusted as the lineup gets adjusted...

He’s a fricken hockey player and a star in this league. You look hard enough you’re going to find some sort of dirt on everyone. So ya Id take him in Heartbeat. Im not looking for choirboys or going to ridicule a player because he didn’t get along with so/so here or there. I could give a shit.

Maybe he can't get along with anyone.

That doesn't really help a team, does it?

I'm sure the Bruins will make an informed decision.

You are not 🚫 wrong, and I appreciate your perspective.

It may be a moot point, but let me do a bit more digging and see if there's more to the story than appeared in that particular "article."

I don't trust that they do after the Mitch Miller info gathering......but maybe they started to do real due diligence on character
I think generally, they have. There was a blind spot there, because they thought they could get a decent player cheap, under the radar. And it blew up in their faces.

I don't think they'll be doing that again.

Whatever else, on character issues, on whether a player will commit to being a two-way player, and put the team first, I have great confidence in Don Sweeney and Cam in this regard.

That is one thing I have never questioned, on the board or anywhere else.

We could really use Krejci back as our #1 center and see where we are at trade deadline time.

Merkulov-Krejci-Pasta
Marchy-Zacha-Debrusk
JVR-Coyle-Geekie
Lucic-Freddy-Lauko
Boqvist

Gryz-McAvoy
Lindholm-Carlo
Lohrei-Shattenkirk
Zboril

Ullmark
Swayman

1. Forbort down to the minors ala Reilly to bank some cap space, call up when needed
2. Lohrei and Merkulov surprises us and makes the club out of camp. Merkulov gets a shot playing with Pasta and Krejci.

They will/might come to the conclusion that the only short term, high quality fix at centre worth contemplating like Lindholm, is moving Ullmark + likely in a three way deal. The window to max that return is narrow. Unfortunately, two teams that could really use him and have plenty of assets are Buffalo and NJ. Personally, I think Sway can handle 60 starts and that he’s ready to assume the role. At some point that has to happen.

The other option of keeping Linus and rolling out a top 5 goal/D core every night but having a pop-gun offence seems backwards in todays high scoring game.

If I had the choice I’d be going Lindholm/Sway and keeping our playoff hopes alive and well.

IDK the info about Miller was specific, detailed and in public documents. There was an Athletic article that pretty much laid everything out, plus a family that was willing to talk about the abuse on the record, and a team that publicly walked away from the player because of these specific acts.

Seems a lot easier of a situation to know about than some vague whispers in a locker room. I can't say that I have the same confidence in commitment to character issues when they so blatantly disregarded some of the worst character issues around and then boldly (I'm going to say it)- lied about it. Most teams will pick talent over nice guyness. Not sure why Neely and Sweeney would be any different.

Anyone know how friendly E. Lindholm is with Ullmark, Boqvist and Lindholm?
Train together in off season in Sweden?

I didn’t like them all of 2020-2021 and the first part of 2021-2022 when they were together.
I thought this argument ended some time ago when someone here pointed out the extremely small sample time Coyle played top lines together or lines that included a Smith.

Right about now, I'm really missing "Alberta O'Reilly Fan.":(
He always brought me a smile...Not sure I ever finished one of his long posts but always appreciated his passion. He loved his bruins. Missing him.

Anyone know if Glorydaze still lurks in here? Mods??
