Screw all you guys. NHL season should start in January when NFL regular season ends and then award the cup in august right before NFL season begins. Because when NHL season is over, there ain’t shit to watch except boreball until NFL season kicks up. And I’d rather drag my testicles across a cheese grater than watch boreball.

I actually got into the NLL here in Halifax this year. I know box is different than field, but I enjoyed the hell out of the games I went to. Great sport.
The Box principles are starting to make their way into the field game. Box gives the kids another gear in shooting accuracy and quick decision-making. We have some high schools in Florida setting up outdoor box fields to help their development.

I used to love baseball but I’m coming around to your point of view over the last few years.

The stupidest thing MLB has done is the extra innings rule with a runner starting on second base. And to think I thought that nothing could be more unfair and against the spirit of fair competition than the NHL shootout.

I saw the players are also running around the bases wearing mittens now. SMH

My favourite is pulling pitchers while they have a no-no going because a spreadsheet tells them to.

Or the "who cares how many times you strike out as long as you hit a couple HRs" mentality.

Or the dumbass shift.

Or the fact you can't take out the 2B on a slide anymore.

Or that the catcher can't block the plate anymore.

Or that babied pitchers aren't allowed to throw complete games anymore.

Or the constant video reviews.

But, yeah, the dumb mittens are stupid and the OT runner is really stupid.

I surprisingly don't mind the pitch clock, that seems to have improved things as I don't have to watch the batter step out and f*** with his gloves 18 times an at bat anymore.

It's such a hard-to-watch sport now. And I was a baseball fanatic in the 80s and 90s.

Every other sport has fans excited and nervous about overtime, baseball fans had dread when extra innings would come into play. I can't believe they actually put a runner on second to end the games quicker. Funny enough, the pitch clock might've sped up extras and the need for a runner on second wouldn't be there.

well...that is not baseball, might as well just play Stratomatic in the middle of the field and let the fans watch.

I said back when it was first implemented....the designated rule was the start of what would ruin baseball. Have not followed since the late 80's.

I would think that to a casual lacrosse fan, box lacrosse is a much more entertaining watch experience than field.

I personally love the field game, but especially for hockey fans, box lacrosse is easily a good crossover entertaining watch.

I LOVE Mets baseball, but you couldn't pay me to watch a Mariners-Rangers game or something like that.

I think I was surprised by the speed of the NLL games. Things are happening very quickly. There's lots of scoring and all the games here skew to a younger crowd than the Q-League games. Not sure how it translates on TV, but I think I enjoyed it live at least as much (and maybe even a little more) than I do the Mooseheads.

I don't really like the box lacrosse game that much as a game, but I think it's a great showcase of skill for certain kinds of attackmen.

One of the games featured Jeff Teat vs. Kieran McCardle. Both were fabulous NCAA players, and both are great in the PLL. Teat is probably the most dynamic player in box lacrosse right now... McCardle was a good box player, but the game really hampered his skill set, and turned him into a 1-trick pony.

It's almost like a hockey game where the offense, whichever team is on offense, is always on the power play. (Probably because unlike hockey, there's so many ways to move the lacrosse ball, and there are no long sticks to counter that.) Also goalie skill really does seem reduced to 'big guy who is out of his mind to get in front of all those shots going 120+mph').

Lol. I started off with the whole end by Memorial Day post. But in a weird contradiction, I also wouldn’t mind your suggestion either.

I really liked the bubble hockey. Admittedly, maybe that was due to the Isles making a run… while nothing else in the world was going on?

Looking back, I think the bubble playoffs saved my sanity. That was super fun.

I wouldn’t say that game was on Bobrovsky.

Knights responded well to the Panthers antics and played Knights hockey. Very business-like as compared to the clown show the Panthers were putting on. Maturity versus immaturity was on full display. How to win a championship versus how we think we should win and how we have won so far.

Not really. I thought Bobrovsky was solid last night. VGK found another gear in the 2nd period, and Adin Hill was working miracles in the other net.

Its really just how good Vegas is at blocking shots. They shut down lanes so easily. It really isn't Hill when his team covers him so well.

I actually thought Florida outplayed Vegas for a substantial portion of that game 1. Florida hit at least 4 posts, Hill made an additional 1-2 miraculous saves, and Florida still outshot them despite being shorthanded for basically a 1/3 of the game. The disparity in the penalty calls was the difference in the game with Vegas getting 2 PP goals on 7 opportunities. Just about every call in the game went Vegas' way. I am still baffled how after that first period melee with Hill throwing blocker punches at a player and everybody tussling, there was one penalty and it went to Florida. That was absurd.

Well, there was the one save with the heel of his stick while diving away and the net was wide open.

I mean, that was like save of the year material.

That his Dman then deflected the ensuing rebound shot was like watching a higher power get involved...

The first two periods I gave a slight edge in play to Florida; up until that point it was a great game. Had a bit of everything and a great pace. Vegas then started attacking Florida's major weakness, their D. Although they've been structured under Maurice, they got away from that in the 3rd. Very little gap control, Vegas meandered into their zone freely. They are going to have to clean that up.
