They also were well out of it near the deadline. Behind Detroit and Buffalo. Then it doesn't make sense to suggest they shouldn't have sold.

Your post inspired me to go to the FLA board and check out their "2022-23 trade speculation" thread right before the trade deadline (2/27-ish). Highly entertaining! Here's a sample, and not a lone outlier either:They also were well out of it near the deadline. Behind Detroit and Buffalo.
Entertaining yes, but wasn’t it a foregone conclusion that a message board filled with fans of a bubble team would have opinions like that?Your post inspired me to go to the FLA board and check out their "2022-23 trade speculation" thread right before the trade deadline (2/27-ish). As much as I hate to say it we should be sellers at the deadline. I'm not saying trade everyone but we should be getting assets back to retool for next year and beyond. We aren't making the playoffs. Get some young players and or high draft picks and go back to the drawing board in the Summer.

That's kind of the point that makes it funny. Fans of every team complain and say the sky is falling. In a 32 team league, fans of 31 of them will be "right" if you're talking about winning the Cup. And 28 of 32 will be "right" if you mean the proverbial "winning more than a round or two". With those odds, being "right" isn't that hard. So, it's funny to see people saying the same things you see on 32 boards, but in this case they're "wrong".Entertaining yes, but wasn’t it a foregone conclusion that a message board filled with fans of a bubble team would have opinions like that?
As things have played out I still feel comfortable that I got this one right.
Hey a blind squirrel….
You can’t forget the 3 teams that had the parade routes mapped out. They were also wrong. That's kind of the point that makes it funny. Fans of every team complain and say the sky is falling. I think CAR has plenty of extra time off and can chip the rust off in October. All other things being equal, does CAR root for VGK tonight so they don't get rusty? Or do they take the extra time off and let these guys beat each other up? Probably the latter.
Yeah, not sure what the old cerebral cortex was doing there.I think CAR has plenty of extra time off and can chip the rust off in October.
One more game might not be a bad thing (6 game series)...but this going 7 is not somehting i would want to see if i am Florida.Yeah, not sure what the old cerebral cortex was doing there.
Like I was saying, I wonder what FLA is thinking now?
I think that's correct now that DAL won last night. The finals will start on 6/3 now no matter what. If VGK won last night I believe the finals would have started on 5/31.I don’t think it matters - finals start on June 3 regardless if DAL/VGK goes 7 or not. FLA is waiting to play no matter what happens.
if that is the case, then you want it to go 7 if you are Florida, though.....i think, if correct, we swept Pitt, got swept by Carolina, who swept us only to be swept....hmmmm....I don’t think it matters - finals start on June 3 regardless if DAL/VGK goes 7 or not. FLA is waiting to play no matter what happens.
Why is that important? Why must the NHL start the season a week or so into October? Couldn’t they just shift things forward a bit so the Stanley Cup could be wrapped up by Memorial Day?
Playing for the Stanley Cup while beaches are opening up… just seems a little un-winter sportish.
Does anyone know if there has ever been some reasoning given for that?
True, but it still an anathema in my book! Why is that important?
Panther fans go to the beach ALL SEASON LONG . . .
I agree whole-heartedly. No reason playoffs should extend past Memorial day. If finals go 7 games we are close to being into the third week of June...and no reason not to start the season earlier. But in all seriousness, start the NHL season like a school year… after Labor Day camp opens. Last week of September start the regular season, wrap it up by the end of May (if not Memorial Day).
The league could have it wrapped up by Memorial Day or the 1st week in June the latest if they would get together with the NHLPA and do away with the bye week and the holiday pauses. Then they wouldn’t have to have so many compressed weeks or back to back games either. Why must the NHL start the season a week or so into October? The compressed schedule sucks. This is going to sound like a first world problem, but I think you may agree. It’s annoying, as a season ticket holder, when there’s a stretch of no games, no games, no games, and then It’s game after game after game. The league could have it wrapped up by Memorial Day or the 1st week in June the latest if they would get together with the NHLPA and do away with the bye week and the holiday pauses. I agree with you. Sometimes the big gap in homestands can be due to arena availability, but I think compressed schedules, 3 games in 5 days, 2 sets of B2Bs in a 7 day period in March is very tiring. It doesn't have to be this way, and I’m not looking at this as a case of only the strong survive. The compressed schedule sucks. I'm sure the Player's Union would want a word with you about the 40% salary decreases that would require . . .The regular season should be no more than 50 games. End the playoffs in early May.
Maybe more NHLers embrace the world championships and we have an annual best on best tourney...
And I know this will never happen.
HAHA. Yeah I know. Of course this is unrealistic.I'm sure the Player's Union would want a word with you about the 40% salary decreases that would require . . .
