Unscientific rule of thumb. People from the northeast followed I-95 and relocated along Florida’s Atlantic coast. People from the rust belt and Ontario drove down I-75 and went to the Gulf Coast.

That is pretty darn accurate. Add in lots of snowbirds from Quebec on the Gulf Coast as well. Especially in areas like Dunedin, Sarasota, Palm Harbor, etc.

I don't think this has been talked about and, like most of us, I am rooting against Toronto. However, Sam Bennett is an absolute piece of human filth, with his repeated attempts to injure opponents.

The cross check to the head of Bunting was bad but that "Rock Bottom slam" on Knies is unacceptable. Not only did he appear to try to target Knies' head initially, but then wrapped him up and slammed him to the ice.

He also had the knee-on-knee hit on Holmstrom, which derailed his season just as he was on the upswing. For a player who couldn't do a single pullup, I guess cheap shots are Bennett's M.O. now.

Now I can understand that you don't want to take a penalty in the playoffs and cost your team a game, but I am surprised that no one has knocked Bennett into another zip code yet. Because Bennett seems to target rookies and grinders, the refs definitely don't seem to care, handing out only minor penalties.

Carolina fans were outraged about the check Pulock had on Jack "Seppuku" Drury. What Bennett has done is far worse IMHO.

This 75 and 95 theory came from a realtor I went house hunting with in Siesta Key 10 years ago. She was from Rockaway and moved down there in the early 1980s.

The snowbirds from Quebec kind of throw that theory out of whack. You would think there would be more of them on the Atlantic side. Another unscientific observation about relocations. Vero Beach for some reason has recently gotten a lot of people from Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

I love Siesta Key, especially the Daiquiri Deck! Spent many a day/night there years ago. Not a fan of the flood insurance rates however, lol. Are you in that area now or vacation there?

I have lived on both sides of Florida and definitely ran into more people from Quebec in the Tampa area. They seem to be closer, in terms of personality, to Midwesterners like those transplants from Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, etc.

If I recall correctly, the snowbirds from Quebec used to drive down and often stayed at inexpensive mobile home parks on the West coast of Florida for 3-6 months. It was a very affordable area for fixed incomes. Although maybe a lot of them also inhabit the Port St. Lucie/Jupiter area too? Only been there a couple times, so not sure.

Vegas looks like they were trying to do what the Whalers did, just not as good. I really dig everything Seattle did, but I don't think that name is going to age well.

Carolina is a tough one and they should really scrap their whole identity and try again. It's water being flushed down a toilet. It isn't recognizable, it's got a lot going on and it's really boring.
Carolina should maybe look at how the Lighting transitioned from their original to current logo. Go more minimalistic. Maybe the standard hurricane icon like below. With clean font Carolina following the curve above and Hurricanes following below.

Lol… but not another request for you to sketch something up. Although I appreciate your efforts and feel that I share your general opinion on jersey aesthetics.

As you know, I too appreciate the Isles current third jersey logo. The clean NY with hockey stick.

I shopped for a home around there years ago but I ended up keeping my parents house in Delray Beach. I still live in Queens but I have Longboat Key as my dream destination one day.

Carolina could fit a SUV behind their net. They should look in to it.

Carolina is probably gonna make the final and find some way to lose it...I think they will struggle vs a team with a potent offense whenever they face one

So far the Isles looked better against the Canes than the Devils. They're shutting down the devils speed.

Yeah, for all the fawning we’ve seen over the Devils this series is looking like it will be over quick…

Damm. Isles had the canes on the ropes in game 6 and game 2. Lambert let off the gas. Devs are getting worn down. Staal his shutting down Hughes.

That's ironic, isn't that how their team plays?

They seem to like instigating, especially the "Evil" Aho, but then cry, run and hide behind the refs when it gets physical.

The only physicality I can recall from the Canes was boarding Barzal, arguably the Isles least-physical forward (especially when Bailey isn't on the ice) and an easy target. Of course the zebras made sure to offset the boarding with an embellishment call on Barzal.

They also tossed around the Isles Aho, which pretty much every team does at least a couple times a game. So no points for that.

Otherwise they got away with a few "inadvertent" high sticks and threw Parise on their own goalie once, which was nice for them since they drew a penalty on the goalie contact. Didn't seem like the refs were going to call goalie interference on the initial, much-less-impactful contact, until Parise was forced into the goalie.

We're noticing a lot of missed ref calls in our series too. We're playing like shit so doesn't matter, but they play.... A bit more than with "an edge"

Pshaw… well obviously. It’s interactive, you’re supposed to turn your screen counter-clockwise. That way it will look… absolutely the same… Never mind :sarcasm:

Brind’Amour is annoying with his constant whining to the refs.

But my only genuine criticism of the Canes play, is that they did a ridiculous amount of stick holding on puck battles in the corner and behind the net where the refs view was obstructed. The ice level cameras behind the glass would occasionally catch it.

EDIT, just caught another one in that last sequence before the commercial break.
