It is insane that Boston lost in the first round. Not happy about it for several reasons. First, lets be honest it completely invalidates the NHL regular season. If they didnt win the cup that is fine, but to lose in the first round against Florida, really what does the regular season even matter and that just kind of rubs me the wrong way.
Second, this just opens up a MUCH easier path for the Rags/Devils and Leafs to the cup finals and now I am legit worried about this scenario.
If Florida kept playing like this they could beat anyone but I always find that after crazy upsets like this, the team usually reverts back to its normal level of play for some reason.
Lastly, with Boston out there is not a single team left in the East that I do not think we could have beaten if we are at our best. Makes the loss that much more heartbreaking.

The Islanders aren’t in the same class as any of the remaining teams in the East. Not on this group’s best day.

It’s hard to go from Burke and Pang to Albert and Olczyk. Zzzzzzzz

We finished ahead of Florida over 82 games but we are "not in the same class on our best day?"

Boston should have sold at the TDL. Instead they traded picks for guys who are now UFAs when, in retrospect, they weren't winning the Cup.

They were darn close to tearing it down after the loss to us in 2021...but they had enough young talent they could not quite do it. Their record was a bit of an aberration for sure this year...they probably were more a 3 type seed in reality

Maybe Lou can trade Varlamov to the Avalanche right now and get him to Denver in time for the 3rd period.

They fired Cassidy and got some good traction out of that. Bergeron put off retirement, Kreijci came back from Europe, Pastrnak signed his extension, and they had an all-time season.

If not for firing Cassidy, they probably would have torn it down.

It just goes to show that just because you win the Presidents Cup does not mean your winning the Stanley Cup.
The Regular season is a dress rehearsal for the dance and once the dance comes, those who can really dance do so, and those who pretend and read their own press clippings fail..

Crazy upsets should not shake anybody up, the game to me has become a little bit of a joke with the rule changes and everything based in speed.
Why people have fallen in love with the Three Line Passes has never made any sense to me....

The Playoffs however are about Timely Greasy Goals, Goaltending, Team Defense and all the phony flashy B.S ends....
The Bruins are like when somebody pays someone to build a drag racing car full of chrome, State of the Art Paint and the latest and greatest parts. Everybody thinks it will dominate as it rolls into the speedway. But people who pay others to build their cars, do not really know their cars and when it comes down to it most often fail at beating anyone on the racetrack.

The NHL needs a soft cap or an easier way to shed bad contracts. There’s way too much parity between teams at this point, and it’s impossible for teams to improve without multiple years of completely sucking.

Not sure how much you want to be the Rangers right now. Just feels like some home seed is gonna inevitably come through. I was most confident in that game being the closest of the 3 game 7s but it might end up being an easy Devils win

I think you have to be confident in the Rangers right now. Historically they’ve never lost on Mondays in May after the Avalanche have been eliminated from playoff contention and series-clinching goals scored by players named Carter.

Cheering for Dallas all the way now. They have a couple of older guys who have yet to win SC but had few near chances and I would love to see them finally touch it, especially for little ex-Shark Joe Pavelski who is forever chasing the Cup.

Boston sports has enjoyed decades of sustained success at the highest levels, it’s about time they start suffering embarrassing and demoralizing defeats. ,albeit the pendulum has finally started swinging back

Thrilled the Kraken won.....pulling for them since day one (longish story).....just wish their games were earlier so i could watch more of them and less condensed game highlights, lol.

Boston pulled an us.....had the lead in the third and could not hold onto it.

Should be a fun one tonight....any chance they both lose?

Seems like almost every goal scored these days is a PPG. Makes our putrid PP even more disappointing.
If and when we finally fix our PP the next task is to work on our diving skills.

Somehow NBA refs seem way more aware of embellishment (and ignore it) than their NHL counterparts do.

Why would I give two fvcks about the rags or leafs?

im a big fan of the true underdog story. ‘Historic’ bruins losing in first round is almost as hilarious as the leafs first round struggles.

Because for most Islanders, only Islander victories and success are more important than Rags and Leafs failure.

If we can't win, they sure AF can't be winning either.

Like, duh...
