I starting to feel like Musty or Wood for the Florida 1st would be my pick there is lot of guy in that range but both have size and great hands both good play maker and can shoot.
Musty always seem to be able to attack the center of the ozone and with is poised and skills he also always seem to be able to get closer to the net than expected, he beat one guy than when the structure break down because a 2nd guy come in he find the open teammate.
Wood skating look pretty awful but he make it work because of he is very smart on the ice and his passing is under rated.

We win #1 than of course it's Bedard.
If we win #2, I'm leaning more towards Carlsson than Fantilli.
If we pick #5 or #6, I'm leaning Smith over Benson.

The Florida pick is a total question mark, but let's assume it's between #14 and #18. It all depends on who falls or is still available. If Sale is anywhere in that range, I'd definately pick him, but chances are he'll be top 10 more than falling.
Could Yager fall in that range? There's so many things that could happen in that mid-teen range, but at #14-15, we might end up with a good player that fell.
An interesting twist…Benson or Smith at 5

Use the Florida pick to move up for Leonard.

Off’n’on feeling HuGo moves up, esp. if he can’t/doesn’t acquire a third pick in Round 1.

I’d like this hypothetical move a LOT.

Downside is no Reinbacher…

Really liked Allen in the summer. There’s gotta be an untold story behind his meh season.

I dunno what happened, but he was a decision making nightmare in the games I watched, especially in the first half of the season (his second half was meh). Perhaps it was a confidence issue but he was not ready for primetime at all. Feel like the risk is higher than the reward in the first round.

To be fair, it's hard to deny that he is incredibly talented offensively so the appeal is understandable. His creativity with the puck is impressive and he does things with the puck that very few players can do.

But like you, I am not a fan of his overall game. The lack of effort is frustrating and the defensive side of his game is just nonexistent. There are times where he makes Hoffman look like he could be a frontrunner for the Selke.

Also I fail to see how he ends up as a C in the pros unless he starts giving a f*** on the ice.
If Anyone knows his work ethics it would be Hughes 😉

I agree with you.

We drafted twice in 2022 (3 if you include a early Owen Beck).

We are going to draft twice in the top 20 in 2023

Another top 12 pick in 2024

We have Calgary first. So we draft twice in the first round in 2025.

Are rebuild would end in 2025.
Flames pick will most likely be a top 10 😉

On my second try this morning....BINGO

Bedard and Michkov!

Ya unless we win lottery I think we need 1 more tank year.
I don’t think we should, or even could. I think the ludicrous amounts of injuries have made the team look worse than they are.

We are getting a really good player in the draft this year, and are heavily linked to PLD. Dach was on his way to a 55 point season. Matheson has emerged as a legit top pairing defenceman. The four rookie defencemen are only getting better. RHP has proven he is likely a really good 3rd line option. A priority will be to find legit sustainable goaltending.

But there’s no way they will be bad enough to pick Top 5 next year, even if they tried. It would have to be a Blackhawks type of tear down where they get rid of Suzuki, Caufield which is just silly and counterintuitive.

Just a thought…

Based on his nationality, they will never draft Michkov, but recently acquired Gurianov?
Gurianov already plays in NA while Michkov is in Russia, those are wildly different cases. I don't think anybody can guess if Michkov will ever come play in the NHL, or even if he will be able to leave the country if he wants to come over so this is big gamble for a top 5 pick.

Flames pick will most likely be a top 10 😉

We're not guaranteed to get Flames pick though. Calgary gets a 1st from Florida that year, but it is lottery protected (top 2 spot only).

If Calgary's pick is top 10 & Florida's is not we get Florida's pick. If they're both top 10, we get the worst pick. If they're both out of top 10, we get the better pick.

We only get Calgary's pick out right (#1 OA protected), if they trade Florida's pick, or don't get Florida's pick due to it being lottery protected.

I don't see Florida being bad. Tkachuk & Barkov are in their prime, and Florida's cap situation should improve. It's possible Calgary's pick is top 10, and Florida's is 25+. In which case, we get Florida's pick.

That's insane wow. Poor kid. Is drowning in a pond a common death for family of high profile Russians that have expressed desire to leave the country? Honest question.

No need to tank or draft top 5 next year. We can still find a great player around 10 to 15 in 2024 draft. Next year, we would be in the same position as Detroit or Ottawa.

At one point did the news about Michkov's dad push him back......Will Smith will go 4th....

Not sure Habs will touch Michkov....
