For those who love Dvorsky, would you be willing to put your metaphorical reputations on the line and proclaim him having a chance at being the team's best forward down the line, in a way where it would be obvious? An NHL Alpha where the offense can run through him?
I think there is absolutely a path where Dvorsky becomes that guy. Would a Daniel Alfredsson outcome qualify? There is absolutely a chance he becomes that level of player. Obviously like with every prospect nothing is guaranteed but I think he’s going to be a great all around player in the NHL.

If we end up picking 5th, Would you really use that 5thOA pick to chose one of
Dvorsky or Reinbacher.

no way imo but I need to see more of both as I only saw a little at the wjc's, frankly I couldn't see what all the fuss was about in terms of them being top 10 picks but perhaps I just didn't catch them at the right time.

For me, no. But only because either Benson is still on the board or someone chickened out on Michkov.

If we’re picking 6th and my top 5 are off the board, I’m very happy with Dvorsky. Would have some preferences over Reinbacher, but I wouldn’t start a riot.

what about Sale at #5 or #6
You guys talk about Smith and Benson but Sale looks good as well, his upside comes close to smith and Benson i think.
Sale and Reinbacher could be a great draft imo.

Not at #5 or 6. The only way I consider Sale is if we're drafting 7 or lower. I would take both Smith and Benson before him, and even at #7 I'd take Dvorsky before. I see Dvorsky's game as a lot more translatable to the NHL than Sale's. Sale will need to gain a bit of muscle and spend a few years in Europe before making the jump.

Throughout the majority of that replay, he's in perfect position. It's 4-on-4, man-to-man coverage, and Smith is with his D the whole way down the ice, checking for him over his shoulder.

The only mistake made was he assumed his D (#24) would stop on that rebound and started turning up ice too early to transition. If #24 doesn't take a lap around the net for no reason, it's a possible 2-on-1 the other way for Smith and Perreault.

I can find you clips like that of any player in this draft, even Dvorsky or Moore. Those players are nowhere near as polished as they're made to be, nor is Smith 3-4 years away. I'm curious what your opinion of Suzuki would be were he in this draft.
Smith constantly leaves his position too early when his team isnt in full possession of the puck or when the play is under developped, if you cant see the cheating while watching his games, not sure its worth debating. Dvorsky is constantly on the right side of the puck, Smith isnt.

Please draft Benson at 5. He might be my favorite prospect of the last 5 years. Would I like him even more if he was 6'2? Sure. However, he's doing something none of our players are doing (expect maybe Dach): attacking defenders head on, with skill.

The talent, the compete level and the IQ. Everything's there. I think his play style is reminiscent of Crosby actually.

I want to get on board with Benson… but another small player… and one who isn’t a great skater either… I just can’t get on board with that at 5.
I used to think that about his skating since I watched a bit of him last year and he was average, but he’s made massive strides in that department. I find he just likes to slow the play down, but if he wants to skate, he has a surprising burst.

Skating is not bad, thats actually above junior level average, but thats not high end, thats probably going to be NHL average, in a 5'9 170 lbs frame.

Cristall is having a very good 2nd period right now. I'm not as worried about him as most experts are....

Ya that’s pretty much how I see it. You see Savoie flying around and if Benson had those wheels he’d be an incredibly exciting prospect. But alas, the size/speed combo is legitimately below average.

If Benson had SavoIe's skating, he would be in discussion for 2nd OV. If Savoie had Benson's brain, he probably is in consideration for 1st OV last year, if it makes any sense.

Yet Savoie is overrated and Benson is a beast. Some things are more important

Carter Yakemchuk (RD) was an absolute force for Calgary Hitmen tonight against Red Deer. He's a 2025, but birthday is September 29, so not draft eligible til 2024. Too bad.
