Michkov over Smith 10/10 times but it’s annoying that Kent coached him
?
I got Michkov at #4, ahead of Smith but I would not be upset at all if we snagged him with our first pick (assuming 5-7 range), even with Michkov still on the board.

Im not clear on who is better between Smith, Fantili, Benson and Cristall. Lots of hype for the first two but realistically I think the last two are just as effective.
All three are undersized, realistically... I dont think it matters much.I have Smith ahead of Fantilli
Benson and Cristall, you have to discount a bit based on size.

Hes 6 feet flat and Im sure hes closer to 5 11 than 6 1. With that said, sure skating does play a role.Smith is not undersized in the same way as Cristall or Benson because he can skate. And he's 6 feet+.

Fair enough. Was more just questioning the Kent coaching being annoying comment.Michkov >>>>>>>>>>>>> Smith
Michkov is a special player. He has a Gretzky-like vibe to his IQ.
I don't buy it.
That's cause you are a poster on a message board.
It's really easy to sit here and say, pick Michkov he's the 2nd best prospect in the class.
But if you are investing a highly valuable and rare asset on a player, you want some certainty and we have none right now.
Imagine we blow a top 5 pick on Michkov and Putin keeps him in the country? That's a pretty big risk.
This isn't taking Yurov and Miro in the 20s. This is a top 5 pick in the deepest draft in recent memory.
Before making judgment, think that you know nothing about me, and how tolerant to risk I am.
I understand what you're saying, but I would still pick Michkov, even with all kodaks on me and all my money on this thing. I've taken much bigger risks than picking Michkov in a draft in my life.
Although I agree with you on picking Michkov, you've just proven WTK's point with that last sentence. There's absolutely no risk TO YOU in picking Michkov. Before making judgment, think that you know nothing about me, and how tolerant to risk I am.

wish we can just fast forward to draft day
Jarvis was also a beast two way forward and a better skater than Cristall.Like what happen with Seth Jarvis in 2020...
Never claimed Drouin was alike Caufield quite the opposite.Caufield and Drouin are nothing alike and Cristall is more akin to Zegras than either, even if I do not think it's a great comparison. Closer to Mitch Marner stylistically, and it's easy to forget that Marner also had a tendency of overhandling and doing batshit junior stuff until he adapted to the NHL. It's a risk that he will have a similar development curve, but I have patience for players who exhibit that high end playmaking ability who can facilitate offense for everyone in the lineup.
Out of the players you named, Smith is a good alternative to Cristall but I think he'll go top 5, if not then I'd be thrilled with that. Dvorsky I'm meh on, Carlsson will be long gone, and Leonard is simply a different kind of player.
You invested millions of dollars on a risky move?If I've taken bigger risks in my life, what makes you think I wouldn't take the gamble on Michkov if given the opportunity, even if the risk is on me?
And he might not and Cristall and Benson may grow 1 inch and we have three players of the same height. He's 17, he might get to 6'1''
And draft Bedard.
How does Smith compare to Cooley as a prospect?

Really, when youre small youre small.
Cooley is a slightly better skater and holds on the puck for long time but hes pretty good defensively and he works hard but his shot, size and inside play is all a weakness. How does Smith compare to Cooley as a prospect?
Exactly. That's cause you are a poster on a message board.

On one hand.. Cooley was trusted in his draft year to be a top 6 center on the WJC team while Smith was cut.
On the other hand, Smith is producing more than Cooley on the USNDTP.
I'd say there's a bit more floor on Cooley because of how competitive he is and his defensive game is actually pretty good.
Smith has the size that will help him and I do think that he's showing his offensive ability might be higher than Cooley's.
Can't wait to watch Smith at the U-18s.
