That USNDTP team is a gold mine this year, Im in love with all 3, Smith, Moore and Leonard, fantastic hockey players. I agree on Leonard, kid plays a pro game already, I would say the same about Moore as well. Smith possibly the one with the highest upside, but the other 2 are really good as well, top 6 for sure IMO. Then you have Perreault who is all skills, possibly in the 20-30 range, but still a nice gamble late 1st IMO. I would be pretty happy to end up with Smith + Leonard or Moore.

Yeah, Perreault has sick hands. Does absolutely nothing physically, but he really knows how to manipulate open ice. Quick decisions offensively & almost always the right ones. Just crazy watching how skilled he is.

Yeah, the US team isn't as strong as the epic Hughes draft, but it's got some really good players this year. Moore & Leonard are under rated. Both will be pros.

Leonard has 23g in 30 games. Matt Boldy in his draft year finished with 33g in 64 games. Leonard is on pace for 48-50 goal season. Not sure how people can say he's not a goal scorer - all he does is bury his chances. Lmao

His skating is MacKinnon quality, and he already has a ton of power in it. Kid's a freaking beast.

I like Danny Nelson too, but don't think we'll be in a position to draft him. I think he's more late 2nd, but chances are extremely high he gets taken 40-ish. There are others I'd prefer with our high second.

What kind of player Nelson is? Huge kid obviously, but Im too busy too focuss on the other 3 when I watch them...

Who the fook says Leonard isnt a goalscorer? What is he if not a top 5 G scorer in this draft?

Yeah, he's big & has really good speed. Another guy who drives the net. Plays a really smart physical game, and is good with his stick defensively. Pks for them.

He usually plays with Ryan Fine on I guess their 3rd line. He's just under a point per game, but doesn't get offensive opportunities. Those go to the big guns.

Offensively, he's not that far off what Alex Tuch put up in his draft year for USDP, and he was on the top line with Eichel back then. Nelson is on 3rd line. In half a season he's almost put up what Luke Tuch put up in a full season, and we drafted him late 2nd.

I look at him as a potential Boone Jenner type. I don't think he has huge offensive upside, but he looks like he could be a quality middle 6 forward.

Currently, he's ranked 38-60. We only have the one second round pick, and he won't be there for our 3rd, sooooooo ..... 🤷‍♂️

Could be a reason why Kent went with Slafkovsky last year. Either the Habs win the lottery and get a Bedard/Carlsson/Fantilli, or they are in the Will Smith/Brayden Yager range and take one. Why pick Cooley if you know you can get a slightly better Cooley the year after? There’s no Slafkovsky in this draft.
There is also no top D in this draft, so if it were their thinking they would have gone with a D last year ;)

2 more goals for Bedard. His PPG has decreased since he "only" got 2 pts but his GPG is off the charts. Now at 1.16. Highest one since Lindros for a D-1 season unless I am missing someone.

It's really impressive how well he's reading the play and what he does to adjust to it - at 17.

+ He seems pretty physically dominant at that level.

What impresses me the most about his game is how he can get the puck in an iffy situation (2 checkers right on him), and settle things down to establish a stable in-zone possession. He does it reliably, and it's why AIK lean on him on the PP.

Very eager to watch him at the U18s, if they send him.

On the other hand, I absolutely do not want Montreal to draft Dvorsky. He's responsible and smart enough to ''hang'' in the NHL, so we'll do that instead of leaving him in Sweden to develop, and it'll be so f***ing stupid.
Hmmm curious why he has more points than Jake Evans if hes not nhl ready??? Would you rather he plays in a second rate league than be under the wing of Adam Nicholas????? Unlike Slaf, KK and galchy, he will not bust because hes a good person.

I made the argument last year that we should draft Cooley entirely because he was the best prospect headed to the NCAA, and I should've stuck with it.

The longer a prospect stays away from us, the better chance they have.

Don't think they should, he's progressing more in the pros.

I think Dvorsky would be kept in Sweden he's not in the SHL yet.

He gives me Mercer, Lundell vibes where his offensive game is underrated as a solid 2 way C.

It's more than underrated at this point, this is a #1C in the making.

When you say "us", do you mean the posters on this forum or Habs management?

Good share. If I have 1 pick in the top 10 this year, I’m likely not taking the risk of drafting Michkov and not knowing if and when I’ll get him over.
But if I’m the Habs and have 2 picks in the top 10, and I use my first pick on more of a sure thing, then I’m more willing to risk my 2nd pick on a potential home run like him.
Let's say you end up with pick 3 and 9. You have Carlsson/Fantilli at 3. If Mitchkov is there at 9 you take the gamble. If you have pick 5 and youre looking at Benson/Smith, I'd probably go for someone else at 9

Moore, I'm afraid might have the same issues as Turcotte in the pro game. His game seems focused on athleticism , not skills or hockey sense. And he might not have the same edge against professional considering his frame.

I still like him a lot. No prospect is perfect.
I might not have seen enough of him either.

What's your take?
