So much for the "deep draft" narrative. People debating a bunch of players that probably won't become as good as Max Pacioretty.

Just trade the pick for an older top prospect if Michkov, Carlsson and Fantilli are gone.

Which top prospect (doing good, not busting) is available for a 5thoverall pick?

Apart from Bedard, its similar to every other draft.

We got Dach for the 13th pick…

But no need to trade, just take the right player. There will be a stud available at 5, just need to identify them and take them.

Here's a great documentary about the 96 NBA draft. How is it relevant in an NHL draft thread? For one it's inspiring to see Jerry West Maneuver to get Kobe Bryant with the 13th pick. He felt at the time that he was the best pkayer in the draft and a player they had to go out and get, yet could wait until 13th overall to get him.

Ultimately I hope our scouting staff knows how to scout, knows how to find talent.

For sure, there’s never been a draft-in any sport- where years later you look back at the draft order and think “yup, that’s the order it should have went.”

In all likelihood I doubt this supposed “big 5” ends up the 5 best players from this draft.

Yea we got Dach but I would not give the 5th overall for Dach (as much as I love him). The name available is Laf and Kakko. I would not give that much for them, don't think Laf would do good in Mtl, prefer to golf in the summer instead of training (per Rangers exec words). Doesn't sound like a guy 110% commited. We can get a crazy good player with the 5th overall, just draft.

It’s very rare a Dach type player is available for picks. I can’t remember the last time it happened.

I can’t see the kings giving out Byfield for picks at the draft for example

Dvorsky at 5

“3rd time is the charm for centres that can’t skate”

This message paid for you by the Dalibor Dvorsky Doofuses
If KK had the agility, balance and strength of Dvorsky he’d have been a fine pick. And while Dvorsky has issues with his stride/straight line speed, he actually does have good natural edgework due to his natural agility and athleticism.

Galchenyuk was a headcase.

If this is your reasoning for not liking Dvorsky, that’s pretty silly. That’s like refusing to date girls with green eyes because your ex has green eyes.

I’m just spitting the same nonsense you are about Leonard. I actually don’t mind Dvorsky. You’re the one that thinks Leonard is some vanilla 2nd liner.

He’ll be a solid 2nd liner. That’s hardly a damning comment. You think he’s gonna be a star or something???

Rest assured that at least half of the fan base will be disappointed with the stud we pick, whoever it is.
