I think you guys are going a bit overboard here. There's like a 5% chance any of these players turn into anything. More disappointing to me is the failure to move any of the veterans. That is a much bigger philosophical issue than not taking a guy you liked after watching a 10 minute highlight reel.
People here are upset about the process that this organization follows and it has very little to do with the specific players themselves.

This is the same exact thing that we've seen for years now.

Doesn't change the fact by the 3rd rd, the odds are very long against anything more than a bottom six/third pair guy.
No matter how much film you watch.

But if you think 2024 is much weaker, it's a bad move, because you're reducing your expected value.
So because the chance of them not making it goes down, means you just throw away picks, and don't go for the best value or best play available? That's good to know

Complaints about the process? That I definitely have time for. In fact, that's part of my complaint about trading a future pick to get one in this draft. You're rebuilding dummies - trade a veteran to get the pick instead. I'm talking more about the complaints that they passed on a specific player as if they have some magic 8 ball of projecting the development of a 17 year old kid.

What's interesting is Chicago traded 51 in a supposedly deeper draft for what could be 50+ next year (LA) and a 6th rd pk.
Tells me they like the 2024 draft, at least after the 1st rd, as much as 2023.

I don’t know why Chicago made the decision. We’re all guessing. But I would argue that the decision to trade out should be made chiefly by the board of currently available players. You cannot predict boards a year out with a shred of credibility.

It all plays into a major problem within the franchise

Uh, this ain't EA2023, you can't just "trade a veteran." Look how few trades there were this year.
Obviously they target this kid, so they must like him a lot - if they think he was a top 40 and they traded 50+ from next season, that's the right process.

Absolutely, and that's why I'm most concerned about the macro process going on here and not that they didn't pick X player - because again the chances of any of these turning into anything valuable is really miniscule. The process they've deployed of not trading any of Sanheim, Laighton, TK, Hart, Seeler, etc. so far is what is completely demoralizing.
